Norma Jean

Norma Jean Album: “O God, The Aftermath [Limited]”

Norma Jean Album: “O God, The Aftermath [Limited]”
Description :
Norma Jean (Metal): Chris, Daniel, Jake, Scottie, Cory. <p>Three years and one lead-singer change after its debut album, Christian metal band Norma Jean returned with O GOD, THE AFTERMATH, a pile-driving slice of boundary-pushing heaviness that finds the Atlanta, Georgia combo's talents undiminished. Replacement throat-shredder Cory Brandon's guttural growls are deeper and even more intense than those of his predecessor, Joshua Scogin. In addition, the new guy adds a welcome bit of melodic singing to the mix. The time between records also seems to have been spent expanding the group's instrumental palette, as many songs feature a more experimental edge. While BLESS THE MARTYR AND KISS THE CHILD's Metallica/Pantera-style speed riffs are maintained (particularly on "Absentimental"), the band finds an increased taste for dissonance and complicated polyrhythms, as evidenced by the jagged start/stops on "Dilemmachine" and the strident lead guitar tritones of "Pretendeavor." A gut-wrenching album by any measure, O GOD, THE AFTERMATH shows that faith can be expressed in a myriad of challenging ways.

- "O God, the aftermath" A Marvelous End to the Exhausted Contender

I bought this CD/DVD thing like 2 weeks ago and it's good. The DVD has 3 Music Videos from the new CD and includes live footage from previous world-wide concerts. My favorite CD by Norma Jean is sill Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child, however, I'm glad to have this album. I was going to buy the regular CD by them - but I always go for CD/DVD combos. I gave this a 4 star rating simply besause I liked the other album better - I would have given it 4.5 but it won't let me. If you like Norma Jean - buy it - It'd be a good addition to your collection. Besides - why buy the regular CD for maybe a few dollars less when you can have a DVD? If you already own it, you'll probably think about it - If I did, I'd just burn someone elses or download the Music Videos. I'll probably watch the DVD again, it's not amazing or anything, but it's a bonus and I really like the Liarsenic(Creating a Universe of Discourse) video. I have a lot of CDs and I listen to this one at least every other day.

- O' God, A Great CD!

This is one of my favorite CD's. You should definitely get the special edition. It comes with a HILARIOUS DVD. It's so raw, I just wish Cory would show his religious side a little more. Either way, the lyrics are still powerful, and moving. A must have for any fan.

- AMAZING

Reissue of Norma Jean's second release O' God The Aftermath. Wow, what an album!!! Less melodic than Bless The Martyr, Kiss The Child mind you, but still just a exciting and brutal. The bonus material in the deluxe edition is cool too.

- hmm... different.

Now I loved Bless the Martyr and kiss the child and I was SOOO excited about the new Cd. But I was torn down... Ogodtheaftermath was so different and not hardcore with wierd noise like screaming. It was so metalish that I hated it at first. But disregarding that NJ used to be way better this is a good CD. Very nice unique riffs. Very good metal.
