- HOW GOOD IS THIS TUNE!?

There have been stormy mornings when its all seemed too much. I ponder slitting my wrists, throwing myself off a high rise or some other misery-laden pursuit.

When those times have set, I knew there was only one answer - Whatever. As the subtle acoustic arouses interest and the opening symphonic strings caress the senses all of a sudden the world begins to change. The clouds endeavor to disperse, an invigorating shiver runs up the spine, hairs on the hind neck stand on end and the sun arises to "shee-yine!" - Hallelujah, praise the lord!

Put simply, the most uplifting anthem I've ever heard by the most under appreciated band ever to hit The States - just wonderful!

- The most celebrated single of the past 10 years!

"I'm freeeeee...to be whatever I, whatever I choose and I'll sing the blues if I want!"

These were the opening lines of Oasis' December 1994 released top 10 hit single Whatever, a song that would set the tone for that year, and the year that followed, and was a teaser for what Oasis would sound like on their higly anticipated second album What's The Story Morning Glory, which would be released in the Fall of 1995.

The song is such a great tune, words cannot describe it.

With an obvious inspiration from The Beatles' post '67 recordings, especially All You Need Is love, apparent by the use of an orchestra (Those violins are out of this world), and lyrics so bold and straightforward that Noel himself can't top, and Liam's vocal reaching its peak, Whatever can easily be voted as the best song Oasis have written and performed throughout their entire career, only Live Forever goes head to head.

It's just a song to celebrate to, to play and sing along to at the top of your voice (make sure you're by yourself though!)

The B-sides: It's Good To Be Free, and Half The World Away, both featured on The Masterplan, are excellent songs also.

Now get a grip on yourself, It don't cost much!

- Probaly the best Oasis single ever released

It's a shame Oasis singles aren't released more in the U.S. It's also a shame "Whatever" hasn't been heard by the average american. It's truly one of the best songs they've ever written and this single is one of the only ways to get it.

"Whatever" is a great song. It's such a powerful emotional acoutic ballad. Noel really shows his song writing abilities and he is truly one of the top songwriters penning songs today. He is very underrated and I just about garuntee you'll love him too if you hear "Whatever."

"(It's Good)To be Free" is a great song. You can find it on The Masterplan album. I think it is truly an underrated Oasis song. It's penned by Noel and has a very catchy chorus. I like this song a lot.

"Half the World Away" is another song off The Masterplan. It's a beautiful written song by Noel. It's another great acoustic song. I saw him play this one live and people where crying as he sang. It's a great song.

"Slide Away" is another great Oasis song. It's off there debut album Definetly Maybe and it's one of there classics. It's a great love song and the version of it on this is song by Liam and is the same one on Definetly Maybe. The acoustic version song by Noel on MTV Unplugged is the best version you will ever hear, but this one is a close second.

This is a great Single. All the songs are quality singles and I would reccomend this song to anybody. It's not just something for an Oasis fan. These are all deep emotional songs that anyone can enjoy. It's Definetly a must own for Oasis fans and you should check it out.

- One of their best singles...

Released in December of 1994, Whatever is declaring anthem sung by no other than Liam. If Liam had discovered his writing skills sooner, he could have written something much like this. Nevertheless, this single is a must-have for any fan of Oasis.

Every track on here can be listened to time and time again and not get old. Pick it up.

- Must Have

Whatever was a good crossover single between the sounds of 'definitely maybe' and 'morning glory'. It is also one of their best radio songs meaning everyone has heard it, but may not own it. I'm assuming this song will be included on an Oasis 'best of' compilation one day, but until then, this is a must have for all Oasis fans, as it is unavailable on any other Oasis release unless you were lucky enough to get the special bonus disc release of 'definitely maybe'. I think this song summed up the band perfectly in their early days and defined who they wanted to be. The B-sides are just as good as the title track, and while they are also available on other LP's, they flow through perfectly on this CD.
