Rewind: The Week in Rock DailyPhoto:Goodwin/Redferns/Retna This week, Rolling Stone celebrated the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. Not only did we give you the entire list, but we also took you into the studio with some legends, showed you some ballots from our panel of voters and explained the selection process via video. When people fought the law, the law tended to win: the gentleman who leaked Chinese Democracy decided to plead guilty, while Chicago rapper Bump J got snagged for a bank robbery. It wasn’t all bad news, though: Kanye West managed to swat at a photographer without reprisals. Did anybody not win an award this week? Paramore took home a Woodie, Juanes swept the Latin Grammys and Coldplay and Ringo Starr scored World Music Awards. Not everybody was a winner: Billy Corgan certainly won’t be taking home Mr. Congeniality, and the men of Led Zeppelin may be angering hardcore fans. The rock world shed a tear for late Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, and the hip-hop world poured a little liquor out on the fourth anniversary of the death of Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Finally, for anybody who might still be in doubt: Chinese Democracy is coming out, and we’ve got proof.
