Rewind: The Week in Rock DailyPhoto: Sussman/Getty Kanye West had a wild week. It kicked off with a triumphant performance at the VMAs with his new single “Love Lockdown” and ended with him being cuffed and booked after a run-in with paparazzi at LAX. In between, a couple e-tailers discovered that it looks like Kanye will be releasing a new album December 16th. We were all over the VMAs with a live blog, a spot on the red carpet and a backstage pass. We also talked with Panic At the Disco, Kid Rock and Paramore, plus sat down with host Russell Brand. Oasis’ Noel Gallagher was the victim of an onstage attack in Toronto. Noel suffered rib and ligament damage, forcing the band to cancel gigs in the attack’s wake. However, they were healthy enough to teach subway riders how to play new Oasis songs in NYC today. AC/DC readied another trip down the “Highway to Hell” by mapping out the first North American leg of their upcoming Black Ice tour.

Comment of the Week: Demi Moore Accidentally Embodies the VMAsPhoto: Winter/Getty Despite the fact that the 2008 version of the MTV Video Music Awards made a nice splash in the ratings this year, the show as a whole managed to receive some mixed reactions. Once glance at the mountain of comments during our live blog to see the range of reactions. But there was one poster in particular (who aptly called himself Duped) who summed up the sadness and trainwreckness of the show: “Isn’t Demi Moore a little old for this? She should be off somewhere taking Centrum tablets.” Perhaps that’s why she forgot her microphone and then acted as though she had never been on live TV before — she was calcium deficient! VMAs Video: Are Panic at the Disco Depressed? Why Do Paramore Blog?Rolling Stone’s trip to the VMAs was quite educational: we learned that Linkin Park are developing a designer drug with the goal of enslaving all humanity (seriously, watch Chester Bennington explain it), and that Panic at the Disco are in a weird state of mind — see for yourself by watching our interview above. “We’re going to do a record over the winter,” Ryan Ross says, and the band shares an Axl Rose story.
