This is an excellent concert by Brazilian rock band Pato Fu. My preferred songs are 'Sobre O Tempo' and 'Porque te Vas'. Fernanda Takai has a sweet voice and in this concert she sings in Portuguese, Japanese and Spanish (her cover of 'Porque te Vas' with a Brazilian accent is especially enchanting). I own the CD of this concert and I've seen bits of the show on Youtube. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive the DVD I ordered from amazon, and I suspect that it'll never arrive (since almost three months have passed after I placed the order). In the meantime, I bought the item elsewhere on ebay since I really want to own this DVD.
Okay, first and foremost, I own an imported copy of this, and it's all-region NTSC format. I know that Brazil at least used to use a PAL TV format variant, so I wouldn't guarantee that EVERY copy is NTSC, but hey, at least you've got a solid chance.
Anyhow, a friend of mine mailed me this DVD, and the songs have been perpetually stuck in my head for the last two or so months. It was hearing bits and pieces of this performance that got me into this great, catchy band in the first place, and getting the actual DVD complete with a large roster of subtitles (including guitar tablature, even!) is fantastic. The set's an eclectic, catchy batch, plus there are interview portions interspersed across the performance giving bits of band history. I'd recommend it, and everyone I've played songs for seems to like it, so a worthy buy, I'd say.
But cripes, $40, even for an import? There's a CD version available too (sans interviews and subtitles) that might be a bit more affordable. Maybe one of Amazon's third-party retailers could manage under $30 for this?
