Landlocked
MUSIC Pavement. That's all I really associate with Stockton. Personally, I've only been there once, few weeks back on my way to Yosemite, and I just drove through — 205 to 120 — stopping once for gas. So pavement all the way.

Relay for Life fundraiser coming May 18 and 19

Archers of Loaf reissues spur reunion tour
North Carolina's Archers of Loaf are one of the best bands to come out of the alternative-rock explosion of the 1990s. A noisy, guitar-driven group with witty, sarcastic lyrics, the Archers were often compared to indie-rock stalwarts Pavement, the Replacements and Sonic Youth.

North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un Looks to Cement His Position in Day of Celebration
The cement pavement on Kim Il-Sung square in Pyongyang shook as dozens of divisions of the Korean People’s Army goosestepped to a military brass band in perfect synchrony. Later came the big guns: Soviet-era military trucks drove in parade formations carrying missile launchers, drone airplanes and heavy rockets, the pride of the North Korean army.

Sat. Nite Duets gets away from feeling good
A Sat. Nite Duets song is the indie-rock equivalent of a sock monkey -- the Milwaukee band's sound is fuzzy, patched together, and almost as puzzling as it is likable. A certain offhand optimism comes naturally to the band, as do defiantly scraggly guitar leads, so it's become obligatory to point out they sound like Pavement (and also that they sometimes get naked on album covers).

The Cult Announce US Tour
Venerable rock band The Cult will hit the pavement hard this summer with the first leg of its 2012 North American tour. The 20-date trek is set to kick off on Friday, May 25 in San Diego, CA bringing the band's incendiary rock energy to major and secondary markets across the continent.
