- Best Christian Rock Album I've Ever Heard!!!

To say Pillar can rock would be a complete understatement. Their style of music can best be compared as a Christian version of bands like Limp Biskit or Linkin' Park, only a notch better, in my opinion. My top 3 favorite songs on the CD are: Live For Him; You Should Know; and Something Real, but all the songs are GREAT. God has blessed with this band with an enormous talent, and it shows on the CD. BUY IT NOW!! (you won't regret it)

- Pillar are amazing....

This album, their first on Forefront Records is just great, songs like Original Superman are just awesome, these guys are the sort of band you can listen to all the time and not really get sick of hearing them, I've only known about them since last year but since then I managed to get them to the Parachute Festival here in New Zealand where they were exceedingly well recieved, having promised they would come back the following year, to which they are. These guys have a really good sound - good use of guitar, bass and drums and followed up by really well written lyrics, Pillar are a really good solid rock band and a huge difference to the likes of Limp Bizkit where Pillar are actually good. The songs Live For Him, Above, Original Superman, Open Your Eyes and Reaching Out are well and truly my favourite tracks on what really is just an awesome album.

If you've heard these guys before and dont already own this one, get it, you wont be disapoointed, or even of you own any of the later albums, get this and see where they really kicked it off.

- Brilliant

When I first listened to Above, I thought Pillar was just another Christian rock band. But then I started listening to their lyrics and I was dumbstruck. Their raw emotion and energy that they put into their music hooked me. The blend of rap and rock sounds fresh even if you've listened to a dozen other artists with the same style. I would highly recommend this album, as well as their second album Fireproof.

- Five Stars Isn't Enough!!

These guys SO rock. I first saw an article on these guys in Newsweek and was intrigued. Then I went to the Newsweek website and heard a small sample of their music and WOW, I was so hooked. I immediately bought the Above CD and it will always be one of my favorites. Finally, fantastic music with a good message.

- Music with a Message

When I first got this album, I didn't really get into it. But when I started really listening to it, I really started to LOVE it. The lyrics are really great because it talks a lot about sacrificing and giving your all to the LORD. The guitars are have a great crunchy sound with a lot of punchy bass. The Bass is very tight rhymically with the drums. But all three instruments just lock in together when they play. I love all the songs on the album except for "Something Real". I know there is a lot of Rap Metal acts, but Pillar provides great music with meaningful lyrics (assuming you're christian). I can't wait until their new one "FIREPROOF" comes out.
