News Ticker: Wyclef, Rikki Rockett, Slipknot Wyclef Jean continues to try and bring stability to his impoverished Haiti as the former Fugee seeks investors to improve the island’s economic infrastructure. “Haitians want to develop their agriculture, not to everlastingly receive assistance,” Wyclef said. Digital music website Rhapsody is now offering their entire five million song catalog as DRM-free MP3s after relaunching their Website. Rape charges in Mississippi against Poison’s Rikki Rockett were dismissed after it was revealed that an imposter claiming to be Rockett actually committed the crime. Slipknot will reveal their new masks over at AOL on July 1st. The new headgear coincides with the band’s new album All Hope is Gone, which we previewed last week.

News Ticker: Poison, Santogold, Young Jeezy and Steven Tyler Poison are suing Capitol Records, claiming the major label has underpaid the band royalties for years. The reunited hair band is seeking $25,000 in damages. Santogold has been sued by a bizarre singer/actor/infomercial star named Santo Gold for name infringement, claiming he’s been the rightful owner of the name since 1983. Rapper Young Jeezy was arrested in Atlanta early yesterday morning on a litany of driving-related charges, including DUI. Jeezy was pulled over when police saw him speeding in a Corvette that had no license plates. As evidenced by his appearance courtside during the Celtics Game 6 win over the Lakers, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler is out of rehab. [Photo: Getty]

News Ticker: Slash, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer Slash may get his Dr. Pepper after all. Asked by the BBC whether the original Guns N’ Roses could ever reunite, the guitarist said it would take “a twist of fate.” “It’s a possibility, but there are so many big things that would have to change before it was even possible,” said Slash. “It’s not in the foreseeable future, as far as I’m concerned.” Bad weather finally forced Fall Out Boy to cancel their trip to Antarctica after a week of postponements. The band hoped to play the frozen continent in order to make the Guinness Book of World Records as the first act to play all seven continents. If being a rocker and commandeering cruise ships doesn’t work out, John Mayer can look forward to a job at ESPN. Listen to Mayer’s hilarious attempt at play-by-play during the Boston Red Sox/Oakland Athletics game in Tokyo. Poison drummer Rikki Rockett was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday on an outstanding rape warrant. Rockett was busted going through customs at LAX after it was discovered a warrant was out for his arrest in Neshoba County, Mississippi. [Photo: Getty]

My Morning Jacket’s Eclectic Covers: From Danzig to DylanPhoto: Schwartz/GettyMy Morning Jacket may not have logged as many miles on the road as Phish — yet — but given another few decades of touring, Jim James and crew might give the Vermont quartet a run for “most cover songs played live.” The Kentucky rockers have covered everyone from the Band to Poison to Blue Oyster Cult, and now the blog You Ain’t No Picasso has wrangled more than 50 of the band’s live covers for your listening pleasure. (And we’re not even counting Yim Yames’ EP of George Harr

Miley Cyrus Plots Cover of Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”Photo: Marsland/WireImageTaylor Swift has long professed her love of Def Leppard, and now another young country starlet has admitted her love of pop metal. Miley Cyrus’ first concert — after seeing dad Billy Ray Cyrus shake his achy, breaky mullet onstage, of course — was a Poison show. So it should come as little surprise to anyone that Miley’s tackling one of the band’s most beloved classics. According to sources, Cyrus was recently in New York to record a cover of Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its

Comment of the Week: Cheap Trick Make Our Readers Do Strange ThingsPhoto: Nielsen/WireImage We, and many of our readers, were incredibly excited when Cheap Trick revealed that they’d team with Poison and Def Leppard for a summer tour. But the band that brought you “I Want You To Want Me,” “Surrender” and “The Ballad of TV Violence” is also responsible for one of the weirdest comments Rock Daily has ever encountered. From a commenter who calls himself The One Eyed Snake: “Let me first start off by saying that I AM A STRAIGHT MALE!!! Back in high school, my buddies and I use to take Hustler magazines and cut the heads off of the centerfolds. We then would tape the heads from Cheap Trick from such magazines as Creem, Circus, and Hit Parader. Man, it made for wonderful one-handed bathroom reading. I still love those guys. Seen them too many times to count. Playing pocket pool and listening to Cheap Trick does life get much better then that? I think not!” Do any of you remember that scene in the grossly underrated 1979 Matt Dillon film Over the Edge, when those high school kids are sitting around, drinking beer and listening to Cheap Trick when one of the kids almost accidentally shoots her boyfriend with a pistol? Cheap Trick has a strange hold on people. They want us to want them, but not that much, people. To find out when the rockers are coming to your town, check out the dates here.

Earth, Wind & Fire Team Up With Chicago For Joint Summer TourPhoto: Bedder/Getty Two more classic acts are teaming up for a 30-city co-headlining tour: Earth, Wind & Fire and ">Chicago will head out together starting June 5th. The two long-lasting bands also set out on a joint tour in 2004-2005. Each night, both groups will perform a full set apiece, then it’ll be Earth, Wind & Fire & Chicago for the final set as all the musicians hit the stage together. EW&F have enjoyed a renaissance of late, no doubt helped out by big fan President Obama recently having the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers perform at the White House. The prolific Chicago have gone platinum with 25 out of their 30 albums. We’re calling this the Revolving Door Tour, as if you combined the total number of band members both Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago have employed in the past four decades, it’d be somewhere in the 50s. With the slumping economy expected to seep into the summer touring business, multi-artists tours like Poison, Def Leppard and Cheap Trick and REO Speedwagon, .38 Special and Styx are becoming a necessity on the circuit. The dates for the E,W&F and Chicago tour are below. June 5 - Orange Beach, AL @ The Amphitheater June 6 - Atlanta, GA @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre June 9 - Charlotte, NC @ Time Warner Cable Arena June 10 - Washington, D.C. @ Merriweather Post Pavilion June 12 - Atlantic City, NJ @ Borgata Event Center June 13 - Atlantic City, NJ @ Borgata Event Center June 14 - Bethel, NY @ Bethel Performing Arts Center June 16 - Boston, MA @ Agganis Arena June 17 - New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden June 19 - Ledyard, CT @ MGM Grand Theatre at Foxwoods June 20 - Verona, NY @ Turning Stone Resort Casino June 21 - Columbus, OH @ Value City Arena June 23 - Indianapolis, IN @ Conseco Fieldhouse June 24 - Detroit, MI @ DTE Energy Music Theatre June 26 - Chicago, IL @ Allstate Arena June 28 - Kansas City, MO @ Sprint Center June 30 - Milwaukee, WI @ Summerfest July 1 - Minneapolis, MN @ Target Center July 10 - Houston, TX @ The Cynthia Woods M
