portishead - thirdgood morning everybody! oh i can't bear today being monday - i had so much fun all weekend long playing grand theft auto 4 (hence the lack of weekend posts) it's an amazing game - i completed a bunch of 'missions' (equaling about 12% of the game) and i'm already looking forward to next weekend for more game time (during the week there's just not enough time - boo hoo!) right now i've got five copies of the brand new portishead album - their third studio release - simply titled third to toss out here on popbytes - the first five people to email me at mk@popbytes.com will win! yelle hits coachella!hey hey! oh it's sunday evening - the weekend is almost over - total bummer! (earlier today i picked up mario kart for the wii which was just released today - it's a total blast!) tomorrow night i'm supposed to go catch hot chip downtown at the mayan theatre but i haven't decided yet if i feel like trekking out on a monday night (the worst night for a show...in fact the following monday (may 5th) i have tickets to see alicia keys) the band just recently played over at the coachella music festival (which i should have went to now in retrospect) along w/ a bunch of other hot acts (kate nash, duffy, portishead, prince...the list goes on) including french pop singer yelle (join her on myspace) who seems to be making a splash here in the states recently - i just picked up her debut album pop-up last week and although it's all in french - i totally love it - in fact i started trying to teach my parrot max a few phrases in french which i'm sure he'll pick up soon (like 'je m'apelle max') he talks all the time (and screams when he wants attention - and trust me he gets it right away - the screaming is unbearable) i need to get some video up here on popbytes soon of max doing his thing! anyways there's some great photos below of yelle performing at coachella (taken by pal of popbytes kevin tachman for wenn) along with the video for one of her catchy singles je veux te voir! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo! girlfriend needs serious help...with a headline like that i could only be talking about my one & only amy winehouse - i promise to lay off her for a bit but whenever i see shocking pictures of her looking like a complete crackhead train wreck - i can't help but think that someone really needs to help her before she ends up dead! with the way she's going it won't be long - does amy not have anybody who can help to clean up her many issues? can't her family have her committed to obviously much needed treatment? she looks so far gone that i'm really worried that it might be too late...it's such a freakin' shame - she's so damn talented yet amy's crack demons have totally taken her over - i feel completely helpless when it comes to the situation - all i can do is keep posting about ms. winehouse here on popbytes and pray for her soul! (read about her most depraved night yet...she could now be facing assault charges) yes - i know i can sometimes be over dramatic but amy is so fucked up and out of control...i can't bear the thought of having to write a RIP post about her...that would kill me (the pictures below are from tonight...yet another late night bender! amy was hanging out in camden at 'the good mixer' (a pub of course) on her way home she apparently stocked up on a bunch of disposable lighters (clutched in her hand) and was guided by 'friends' back to her place - all along the way she was acting bizarre & making crazy faces...oh amy!) anyways i had a really long busy day...i got to hang out with my good pal ck who is in town from new york and we made it downtown to check out portishead's rehearsal - the band is gearing up for what promises to be a kick-ass performance at coachella this weekend! they were simply amazing tonight - lead singer beth gibbons' vocals are truly incredible - i had a total blast although i'm way tired right now! many thanks go out to mr. kurt who helped me gain access to the special gig and provided entry for a few lucky popbytes readers - i wish i could have given out
