- i great surprise

I bought this CD (not here) without ever hearing anything off it. I had only heard one song by Pulp--"Like a Friend", on the Great Expectations soundtrack--before, but I loved that one so much and liked the price, considering it's 2 CDs, so I trusted my instincts and I'm so glad I did. I love this music; Pulp definitely have a unique sound, and Jarvis Cocker writes some really great lyrics. This is an all-in-all great CD set!

- a little bit strange ..

I have their newer album 'Different Class' , but I was totally unprepared for this one. For me personally, their music is a little bit strange, and their lyric is... odd. I dunno, maybe it's because their 'British' eccentricity. All in all, I like this double album, especially 'countdown'.

- Intoduction to Sheffields' Sleaziest

This record is a great introduction to the dark, and often damp world of pre-fame pulp. The production and general musicianship is nothing to be marvelled at, but the songs themselves are work of true genius. Jarvis's twisted and often tortured lyrics give an often sinister twist to many of the songs. A definate recommendation on all fronts - Look out for track four on the second CD, which is obviously dedicated to Claire Freeman. Live on brothers and sisters.
