Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister: Vampire of the Sunset StripPhotograph by Pep Bonet / NOOR Lemmy Kilmister may be the most indestructible rocker alive. At 63 years old, he still spends nearly every day he’s not on tour swilling bourbon at West Hollywood’s legendary rocker hangout the Rainbow Bar & Grill — and his band still plays about 150 shows a year. Rolling Stone’s Mark Binelli put in some quality time at the Rainbow (and Kilmister’s nearby apartment, stocked with a mind-blowing array of WWII and Nazi memorabilia) for a profile of Motörhead’s singer/

Rock Reality Show Recap: Bret Michaels Somehow Infiltrates Whitestarr’s World on “The Rock Life” Every week The Rock Life follows Los Angeles band Whitestarr as they attempt to make it in the music biz. But who’s following The Rock Life? We are! Here’s our fourth report: Thirty Minutes of Rockin’ Reality in Four Sentences: That wacky Whitestarr finally indulge in those long-awaited rocker antics … by having a water balloon fight … with the paparazzi. The shutterbugs have been swarming since lead singer Cisco Adler split with actress Mischa Barton sometime after last week’s episode with no explanation whatsoever (though 50,000 gossip-blog entries from around February might clue you in on the details). Adler whinges, “I wish they would just leave me alone” with no hint of irony over the fact that he’s constantly being followed by a camera crew, soundmen and VH1 producers. Episode bonus: drummer Orbi’s non-plotline (recovering alcoholic tries to reconnect with women) finally connects with guitarist Rainbow’s non-plotline (tyrannical afro dude tries to keep his girlfriend away from the band) with an awkward double date! Most Rocking Moment: The band performs a shaky, sub-karaoke version of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” with Bret Michaels of VH1’s Rock of Love — is this song destined to invade every show on the network now!? Various girls make out in the front row, climb onstage, unbuckle Adler’s belt and fellate his finger. Least Rocking Moment: Literally laughing and pointing, the band take gassy bass-player Damon to get his colon irrigated. And it’s still less awkward than watching Rainbow try to explain to his girlfriend why she can’t see them play. Ass-Crack Count: Ten. Nine of them belonging Mr. Adler’s friendly backside, the real star of this episode. Which is saying a lot since one of his bandmates had a tube up his starfish for the entire second act. Reality Show Recap: ‘The Rock Life’ Debuts With Slash and Ass-Crack Aplenty Every week The Rock Life follows Los Angeles band Whitestarr as they attempt to make it in the music biz. But who’s following The Rock Life? We are! Here’s our first report: Here’s Whitestarr lead singer Cisco Adler opening VH1’s umpteenth new reality show: “We’re just an average, struggling rock band that’s trying to make it.” However, the unspoken undercurrent from the get-go is that Whitestarr are just an average, struggling rock band whose lead singer is the spawn of the guy who produced Sam Cooke records, lives in palatial Malibu digs, drives a shiny red Caddy and is currently dating Marissa Cooper on The O.C. (clearly this was filmed a while back). Shelved by Atlantic a few years back, they’re looking for a second chance, armed with little more than a Black Crowes shimmy, a Buckcherry ’tude, a stunning amount of self-absorption and pants that don’t always fit right — forget the music, last night’s back-to-back premiere episodes featured no less than sixteen different shots of ass-crack! VH1 debuted two episodes in a row, probably since the expository first episode didn’t have much for actual conflict — be-fro’d guitarist Rainbow tried to convince his girlfriend to stay home from the sold-out Roxy show (“What if I was a lawyer and you came to my job with me?”) and then hot-dogged a guitar solo because Slash (sans sunglasses … yikes) was in the audience. And full-time dancer Tony Potato was concerned over the footing on his dancing platform at the Roxy. But the second episode was classic millennial Monkees antics. Their new manager advises them to “write the hit,” so they all move into Adler’s fancy digs to compose their ticket out of obscurity. And — surprise! — it’s not that simple as they thought! When the manager comes to check on their progress, Adler is frustrated that his band is so drunk and underrehearsed that everything devolves into tuneless flubs and bickering. Adler’s cute little dog dies (if this was the real “rock life,” s

News Ticker: Andre 3000, “The Dark Knight” and Nine Inch NailsPhoto: Getty OutKast’s Andre 3000 is among those being sued for $2 million by a former art student who claims Andre’s Cartoon Network show Class of 3000 infringes copyright. Timothy McGee claims he proposed the idea of the show to Cartoon Network in 1997 with the idea of having singer Babyface in 3000’s role. The Motion Picture Academy has reportedly reversed its decision to make The Dark Knight score ineligible for the 2009 Oscars. The Academy initially said the film had too many composers — five in total — credited. Elmer Valentine, the co-founder of Los Angeles landmarks like the Whisky A Go Go, the Roxy and Rainbow Bar & Grill, died last week after a bout with several ailments. He was 85. Many of L.A.’s most popular clubs dimmed their lights in Valentine’s honor on December 5th. Drummer Josh Freese has revealed why he’s leaving Nine Inch Nails at tour’s end: He’s expecting his third child in January. “I am not leaving because I got a better offer from another band or because I don’t enjoy it… It’s one of my favorite situations I’ve ever been involved with and I already miss it.”
