Rewind: The Week In Rock DailyPhoto: Kohen/Wireimage The Big News: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2009 will include Metallica, Run-DMC, Jeff Beck, Bobby Womack and Little Anthony & The Imperials. We had so many photo galleries, cover stories, reactions and more that we can’t fit it all in this tiny paragraph, so go here for full coverage. L.A.’s Indie 103 shocked radio audiences by announcing it was leaving the airwaves and broadcasting strictly via the Internet. Indie 103’s music director blamed the recession and PPMs, Sex Pistol Steve Jones bid goodbye to the audience and one DJ Twittered the station’s demise. U2 revealed the album cover and track list for No Line on the Horizon and Bono made his debut as an op-ed columnist for the New York Times. Plus, Bono, Bruce Springsteen and many more will perform at this weekend’s inaugural bash in Washington, D.C.’s National Mall. 50 Cent started a war of words in the rap world and our comment board after he dissed Kanye West and called Lil Wayne a “junkie.” You know 50 has a new album coming out when he starts running his mouth, but in case you needed further evidence, his new single “I Get It In” leaked.

Wrestlemania to Feature Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Men in Tights With the Grammys in the review mirror and the summer festival season still in the not-too-distant future, it’s time to focus on the next big event in pop music: Wrestlemania XXIV. The WWE’s annual fiasco, held this year at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL, will feature a bevy of musical performers and guests. John Legend will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” to open the show, while Snoop Dogg will preside over something called the “BunnyMania Lumberjack Match,” which will involve four female wrestlers and possibly some woodcutting. It was also reported that 50 Cent will be in attendance as part of boxer Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s entourage. Mayweather uses 50’s “I Get Money” as his entrance music and will take part in a match against a gigantic man called the Big Show. Finally, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have provided the official song for the event: their “Snow (Hey Oh),” from 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, has been scoring promos for the show since January. Wrestlemania has a long tradition of musical guests, as groups like Motorhead, Limp Bizkit, Run-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa and P.O.D. have played the gig. [Photo: Getty]

Remembering Jam Master Jay on His 45th BirthdayPhoto: Micelotta/Getty Had he not been murdered in a Queens, New York recording studio in October 2002, Jam Master Jay would have been 45 today. Born Jason Mizell on this date in Brooklyn in 1965, Jam Master Jay went on to become one of the most well-known DJs of all time and served as the backbone of the revolutionary rap troupe Run-DMC. At their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction last year, both Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels opted not to perform, explaining their group wasn

Single Minded: Queen Remix, Decemberists Cover HeartPhoto: Michael Ochs Archive/Getty Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody” [Schizofonics Remix] Forget Adam Lambert: maybe what Queen needs to do is take Schizofonics on the road with them to turn out sugared-up electro re-workings on the fly. They could do that for a living — it would be like the new version of those old planetarium laser light shows. “Don’t Fear the Reaper?” More like “Don’t Fear the BLEEPer,” amirite? High-five! “Fix My Hat” Off Lil Wayne’s “Rebirth” Hits the WebPhoto: Winter/Getty “Fix My Hat,” another track from Lil Wayne’s Rebirth, has hit the Web. Described as “an homage to vintage Beastie Boys” in our Spring Music Preview, the 808-soaked song is devoid of the nu-metal guitars and Auto-Tune we’ve come to expect from Rebirth’s previous singles “Prom Queen” and “Hot Revolver.” In fact, “Fix My Hat” sounds like it would fit more comfortably on Run-DMC’s beat-heavy Raising Hell than their own heavy metal-tinged LP King of Rock.
