Saliva

Saliva Album: “Cinco Diablo”

Saliva Album: “Cinco Diablo”
Description :
Personnel: Josey Scott (vocals); Jonathan Montoya, Wayne Swinny (guitar); Dave Novotny (bass guitar); Paul Crosby (drums).
Recording information: The Blue Room, Woodland Hills, CA.
Memphis-based alternative metal outfit Saliva has been turning out post grunge-inspired rock since their 1997 debut, and 2008's CINCO DIABLO finds them still keeping the flame. But while CINCO DIABLO won't disappoint fans of Saliva's earlier work, there are also touches of adult alternative ("How Could You"), rap-rock ("Family Reunion"), and Southern boogie-rock ("Southern Girls") for variety. Saliva maintain their hard edge, yet still manage to expand their sonic palette on this tight, well-produced effort.

- Saliva's best since survival of the sickest

I was hoping this album would make up for their last album, Bloob Stained Love Story (which quite frankly, was slow, poppish, and sounded like they were selling out). I was not disappointed.

Family Reunion - I liked this song, but its not a song I'd listen to on repeat

My Own Worst Enemy - Good guitar rips, this song I'd put in an action movie

Best of Me - This song is a little too repitive to listen to over and over, but its GREAT to listen to when you want to hear it.

How Could You - Softer rock, a good song nevertheless

Hunt You Down - One of my favorite saliva songs in years, up there with their early stuff.

Judgement Day - My favorite song on this CD, amazing guitar rips, great to rock out to.

Forever And A Day - Has the same sort of feel as Rest In Pieces, which i liked a lot, i love this song too even though it's still slower than i usually like.

I'm Coming Back - Has a SERIOUS flashback to their old sound. This is a good song.

Southern Girls - This song has a little classic rock feel to it, This is a great song if you like the ACDC style.

So Long - Just like a a good movie that has a bad ending, this song kils the album, its the reason i couldnt give it 5 stars.

With the exception of the last track, and "How Could You", this is a great album.

it's saliva - like acdc, you're a fan or you're not. you know what you're getting. nothing new but a very good rock album. really a 4 star release , just gave it 5 to offset crappy 1 star reviews. if you like saliva, buy this .

Pretty good! A step up from their last album but still not as good as Back Into Your System or Survival Of The Sickest.

- A Step Back

Too many generic song structures. Saliva is a professional band - they know what works, just like 3 Doors Down - but that doesn't excuse songs like "Hunt You Down," "Judgment Day" or "Forever and a Day," which is like a rewrite of "King of the Stereo," a bland throwaway and "Here With You" rewritten, respectively. Overall, the album is good, because it's made by a competent group, but after cuts 2 through 4, only "So Long" - with its soaring pianos and strings - makes an impact.

- drool a little

everything saliva does is pretty good. Now your gonna here some pop formula to some of theyre music, but that guarentes radio play for the masses and draws in the crowds for singalongs at the concerts.Cinco is just as good as their first two albums and if you like those dont withold this from your Saliva collection
