- An OK scorps effort

OK - Scorpions have been around forever, but it seems that heavy metal years equate to more than the likes of 'Rolling Stones' years! Give em a break!! There are some strong songs on this, although I must admit that it is not as good as 'Crazy World'. Forget the 80's Scorps - they are finding their way in the awfully confused 90's, where if you are not alterna-trash or thrash, you get lost. As a loyal fan since 'In Trance', I still give this a thumbs up to Klaus and the gang. Their piledriving sound still makes me feel good, and hey, what more does one need when it comes to poppin on a hard rock CD? Room for some new ideas (OH, bring back the HM creativity of Lovedrive, pleez) - yes. But not a CD to miss if you still like the icons that are SCORPIONS.

- Just Like the Rest...GREAT!!!

Really a great CD, there is too much power divided in 11 tracks, and a great hidden track (His Latest Flame), Wow, Klaus singging is just great!!!, the guitar riffs also, the drums give real power, und the new bass just does what its allright!!!

Someone To Touch, Unholly Alliance, and Hate to be Nice, are for me the best, No Pain No Gain I prefer it in the "Live Bites".

I really recomend this album.!!!

- Scorpions - 'Face The Heat' (Mercury)

'Face The Heat' covers absolutely no 'new' ground for the long-running German metal outfit.Apparently they've replaced bassist Francis Bucholz with new recruit Ralph Rieckermann. Some of the decent tracks here are "Alien Nation",the radio friendly "Someone To Touch","Tazman Woman" and the discs's ballad "Under The Same Sun".When you think about it,the Scorpions CAN write good ballads.Even though renowned '80's producer Bruce Fairbain(R.I.P.)had a hand in the making of this record,'Face...' is pretty much mediocre. The Scorpions are STILL a fun act to catch live as I've seen them five(5)times now since their 'Lovedrive' days.Just MIGHT appeal to diehards.Anyone else probably would not get a woody over this release.

- Departure from traditional Scorpions sound, but awesome!

The Scorpions are my favorite band of all time. There is no equal to Klaus Meine's voice. He's got the voice of

an angel come to earth, who can lift me up to a better place. And their live show is the best! If you've never

seen the Scorps live, you've missed a real rock and roll experience. Rudy Schenker's guitar work is distinctive

and unmistakable. For so many years, their sound was unchanging. That wasn't a bad thing. Every album was great.

If it's not broken, don't fix it, right?

Well, along came Face the Heat. I heard it was a "departure" from their usual sound, and at first, I thought oh, no!

What are my boys doing? Most of the time, when a band tries a new sound, they only succeed in losing their fans.

But the first time I listened to it, my fears were put to rest. Departure or not, it's one of their best.

No Pain, No Gain and Unholy Alliance are great rocking songs, while the poignant pain of Under the Same Sun and

Woman comes through in Klaus' voice with breathtaking clarity. Finally I Hate to be Nice is a lighthearted,

funny song that speaks to every one of us.

A lot of bands put out an album with one or two, maybe three excellent songs, and the rest are below par fillers.

But Face the Heat is one of those rare albums where every single song is awesome. Get it. Love it. Rock on!

- A Great Scorpions CD!

If you like the 80's Scorpions, you should enjoy this. It's heavy, catchy, uplifting, and fun rock/metal - what the Scorpions are made of. I don't understand the negative criticisms of some of the reviews, it really delivers as a "Scorpions album" - honestly I'd give it 5 stars as such, I only gave it 4 stars because I prefer more epic metal like Iron Maiden.
