R. Kelly Trial Delayed Again, Aerosmith Plan Next LP and “Guitar Hero IV” Game, Madonna Defends Legitimacy of Adoption Proceedings R. Kelly’s trial for five-year-old child-pornography charges has been postponed yet again. Is it because Kelly has at least fifty more chapters of Trapped in the Closet left before he’s trapped in courtroom? No, this time it’s the prosecution that’s delaying the trial, as lead attorney Shauna Boliker needs an extension to her maternity leave. No new starting date has been determined. Aerosmith, who have not broken up, will enter the studio in November to start work on their next album, Billboard reports. While no producer is in place, Sony honcho Rick Rubin will oversee the making of the album. Aerosmith are also collaborating with the makers of Guitar Hero IV, as the next entry in the video game series will be dedicated to the Boston band’s music. Keyboardist Jeffrey Carter Albrecht, a member of Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians and occasionally Paul Simon’s band, was shot to death by his girlfriend’s neighbor in Dallas after allegedly trying to ram down the neighbor’s door at 4 AM in a drunken rage; he was evidently mistaken for a burglar. Amid reports that the Malawian official in charge of overseeing Madonna’s adoption has been removed from the case comes an official statement from the star’s publicist: “The plans to finalize the adoption of Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s son, David, are proceeding as outlined almost a year ago … There has been absolutely no interference with Government Officials or use of Madonna’s ‘celebrity’ to speed up this adoption as reported.” The recording of the fourth Strokes album has been delayed; guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. tells fans via his MySpace page that he’ll enter the studio at the end of October to start work on his second solo album. The Real Ima Robot: Who Needs a Drummer When You Can Hire Droids? San Francisco rocker Jay Vance had it with broke, debauched, unhygienic and irresponsible bandmates — wait, is he living The Rock Life or what? — so he decided to replace his band’s rhythm section with robots (insert dumb-drummer joke here). Vance built his first rocking droid out of scrap-metal in his bedroom back in 1997; its chest was an autoharp. Now he has a whole band of them, Captured! By Robots. Vance powers the entire group — yes, they play metal (insert rim shot here) — using three computers plus pneumatic actuators that make the robots’ mechanical digits play like rock stars. Captured! By Robots’ opening act is Butterscotch and Cocoa, two bear-inspired robots. Vance’s goal is to create a scenario in which the audience’s human reaction to the robots make them real: “When the robots swear at the crowd and the crowd swears back, that’s when you know they’re real to the audience.” [Photo by Snapcult]

Prince Causes Another U.K. Uproar, Marilyn Manson’s Movie Gets a Shoot Date, Flaming Lips-Scored Doc on the Way He’s not an official royal, but Prince is generating more ink in the U.K. than anyone named William or Harry. The Mail on Sunday, the newspaper that’s giving away free copies of Planet Earth, is threatening to sue the British equivalent of Billboard for not allowing sales of the newspaper/CD to count toward the album charts. Marilyn Manson’s Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, starring his girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood as Alice (of Wonderland fame), will begin filming in late autumn. Graham Coxon may or may not be rejoining Blur. The band booked studio time in September as a four-piece, which fueled speculation that Coxon is the fourth piece. Summercamp!, a documentary about (surprise!) summer camp that’s scored by the Flaming Lips, will hit theaters soon. Or you can Netflix it now. Do you ever pause in the supermarket and wonder what happened to key members of Quiet Riot, Cinderella and Nitro? Well, wonder no more, thanks to this article.

Ask A Rock Star: What’s Going to Happen on The Sopranos Series Finale? Adam Levine of Maroon 5: “Doesn’t there need to be some big apocalyptic something? With that show, everything’s been this slow crawl towards the demise of the family. So someone’s going to die, and it’s probably going to be Tony. If that TV show knows what it’s doing, it will have one of the main characters betray him. Maybe his wife. That would be pretty massive. I’d better start talking to them about this…” Mike D of the Beastie Boys: “Both the Adams from my band watch it, but I don’t. I was too late on the whole thing. I see a couple of guys from the show in the neighborhood with their kids, so I’ve lost my whole impression of them as bad guys.” Denis Leary [Honorary Rock Star]: “It’s my favorite show of all time. It created the golden age of TV drama as we know it. If I was writing the show I’d want Carmella to shoot Tony – or not shoot Tony but have been involved in his demise or his survival at gunpoint. There’s no where else to go with that relationship.”

Bon Jovi Figurines Exist, Steven Van Zandt Gives History Lesson, J.R. Rotem Discusses Relationship With Britney We’re not sure what anyone would actually do with one of these Bon Jovi figurines (it doesn’t even look like you can comb their hair) but there they are, in all their creepy and almost lifelike glory. [via Spawn.com] Check out this incredibly cool piece by Steven Van Zandt (who both plays Silvio Dante on The Sopranos and is a founding member of the E Street Band among hundreds of other cool accomplishments) on the history of kick ass music in film and television. “The Sopranos … will be remembered as the series that had the best music in the history of TV,” he writes. It’s Monday. You have all week to get shit done. Bide your time/procrastinate with this fun make-your-own-punk-rock game. [via PopCandy] What is it with Britney and boys who kiss and tell? J.R. Rotem has confirmed rumors that he and the troubled pop star were dating “before the crotch-shot thing,” as the producer so delicately put it. Rotem claims to still be working with the star, but said that things are now “rocky.” Then he went on to laundry list the rest of the starlets he’s worked with (or whatever). Slime ball. This new Common record sounds cool. Finding Forever (out July 10th) features production work from Kanye West, will.i.am, and the late J Dilla among others, plus collaborations with everyone from D’Angelo to Lily Allen. This makes us psyched about summer.
