Sick of It All

Sick of It All Album: “Blood, Sweat & No Tears”

Sick of It All Album: “Blood, Sweat & No Tears”
Description :
Sick Of It All: Lou Koller (vocals); Pete Koller (guitar); Rich Cipriano (bass); Arman Majidi (drums).
Recorded at Normandy Sound, Warren, Rhode Island.
Simply put, BLOOD, SWEAT & NO TEARS is one of the most important albums in the New York City hardcore punk genre and absolutely essential to understanding the NYHC scene. Sick of It All's debut delivers 19 raging tracks of uncompromising, stripped-down hardcore that spawned a thousand imitators and trumpets a by-any-means-necessary life philosophy. Musically, the record helped establish a template that matches thrash metal-informed guitars, hyper-speed shuffle beats, and shouted vocals with lyrics that celebrate tough-guy brotherhood, fierce independence, and the value of hard work and positive thinking, all to exhilarating effect.

- If you don't like this, you probably were not there...

I have to admit, if I wasn't in the "hardcore" scene when this album came out I probably wouldn't have been interested. But I was, and this album hold a special place in my heart.

It sounds dated now, but this album pegged the anger and agression of this musical scene. Add on to it the experience of seeing SOIA live (an unequalled experience) and you have a seminal hardcore album.

Its a must have for anyone looking to understand hardcore roots, and for nostagia for those who listened to this music "back in the day"...

- NYHC

This is a great album, so don't listen to those so-called music lovers. They don't know what they're talking about. Just buy it.

- 20 Years Later and still CLOBBERIN'!

This is the debut album from one of the best New York Hardcore bands to ever do it. It's been 20 years since they dropped this classic, and it still hits just as hard. Sick of it All were leaders, along with Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags and Murphy's Law of the "NYHC" scene. The shows they played were legendary, you have never seen a mosh pit like the ones at SOIA shows. Bodies piled on top of bodies, 20-30 deep on stage they personified the New York Hardcore scene along with their brethren. Every song on here is hard hitting, in your face no B.S. hardcore. This album, along with the debuts by Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law and Cro-Mags stand the test of time. "Rat Pack" is just about the best NYHC song I've ever heard, and no they didn't invent it, but SOIA were the top dogs in the NYHC scene. there really isn't much else you can say except, if you want to experience the New York Harcdcore scene at it's apex, this is probably the best album to listen to. I would put this right there with "Age of Quarrel" and "Victim in Pain' as the best New York Hardcore albums of all time. No metal, no filler, just meat and potatoes Noo Yawk 'core. Pete Koller didn't have the intensity of Roger Miret's voice, but he could still belt out a hardcore song with the best of 'em. KRS-One didn't lend his voice to "Clobberin Time/Pay the Price" for nothing." He was the best MC in '89 and SOIA were the best NY Hardcore band, period.

- Alley Way Crew!!

Damn this is the one and only best SOIA release. Different than the other Youth Crew 88 bands. Play very intense energy hardcore punk in your face style. Very energy and not just give you sweat while moshing with the song. Blood is everywhere in the pit and you will have tears coming out from your eyes coz you will remember them who in the pit back on the early days while this album is out. See ya!!!
