KT Tunstall - Drastic Fantastic Artist: KT Tunstall Review: Set the way-back machine for 1997! Smash Mouth and Third Eye Blind and Primitive Radio Gods are the rock stars of the future. People are still walking around saying, ?You are so money, baby!? Nobody's heard of Napster, reality TV or Britney. Puff Daddy is all over the airwaves rapping, ?Ten years from now we'll still be on top,? which turned out to be half true. And everybody complains about how conservative Bill Clinton is -- can't wait for the real Democrats to take over in 2000. So let's... Rating: 3.5 Stars

Weekend Rock List: Songs That Make You Want To Commit Violent Acts You know the progression: A song starts off as somewhat tolerable, then becomes annoying, then – with time and heavy rotation – becomes something that makes you actually want to hurt yourself or somebody else every time you hear it. Here are five tracks that do that to us. Which songs bring out the beast in you? Smash Mouth, “All Star” Natasha Bedingfield, “Unwritten” Black Eyed Peas, “My Humps” Creed, “With Arms Wide Open” Cranberries, “Zombie”

VH1 to Bring Back “Behind The Music” with Lil Wayne, Scott Weiland and OthersPhoto: Cohen/WireImage VH1 will resurrect a former staple in the network’s programming, Behind the Music, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The network has ordered at least 10 more episodes of the long-running series, with Lil Wayne and Scott Weiland already signed on for their own specials. Other artists involved and potential air dates were not yet revealed. By documenting the bizarre careers of Milli Vanilli and MC Hammer, BTM was an instant hit and a stalwart on the schedule from 1997 to 2002. In recent years, VH1 has trucked out special episodes to tie in to other programming or exclusive content, most recently in September 2008, when New Kids on the Block tied in their first reunion performance with a 90-minute BTM. The network also aired a 30-minute version of the series called BTM2 that focused on then-newer talent such as Smash Mouth and Paula Cole, but that was short-lived. VH1 will also reemploy Jim Forbes, whose distinct voice narrated the entire the original series except for the first two episodes. Forbes’ voice lent a tone of gravitas to the sad tales of BTM subjects ranging from Leif Garrett to REO Speedwagon. So we ask the question to our Rock Daily readers: Who should get the Behind the Music treatment? Tupac Shakur instantly comes to mind, and while Guns n’ Roses already had an episode in the original series, they’re more than due for an updated version. (Wikipedia has the whole list of episodes.) Nirvana, the Libertines and, most recently, Chris Brown should also get their due. Leave your picks in the comments and we’ll be sure to forward them over to the VH1 programming department.

Greg Camp and Gina Marie Young Expecting First ChildFormer Smash Mouth guitarist Greg Camp and his wife, actress/singer Gina Marie Young, are expecting their first child together. Further details are unknown at this time, but the new baby will join Greg's 9 ½-year-old daughter, Mia, from a previous relationship. Greg, 41, and Gina Marie met in 2003, striking up a long-distance phone relationship which led the songwriter to pen a song called Gina Marie in her honor. The Worst Birthday Gift EverSome of you longtime readers might remember former BWE blogger Bob Castrone, who has moved on to bigger and brighter things in Los Angeles, CA. Last week, Bob was in New York, and it was over some communal drinks and laughter that he gave me an early birthday present. So what was this gift, you ask? Perhaps a new Ipod that actually holds a charge? Maybe some funky summer pedal pushers? Oh, I know: A cashmere shrug and a hearty pat on the back? No. No, not those things. Instead, this is what I got: A used Sugar Ray CD. Which apparently was purchased for under a dollar... 69 cents to be specific. Now, I realize that this album, brilliantly entitled 14:59, contains some of the best tunes 1999 had to offer. Hits such as "Every Morning", "Abracadabra", and "Burning Dog" (paws seen on diving board, above). But you would think that after working together and being friends, the guy could have shelled out an extra 39 cents for the Best of Smash Mouth, with an LFO single to boot. Though, to be fair, he is the only person to give me anything. And for that, I thank him. And thanks to all of you for your bday wishes!

Less Robots, More Story?Last week, Michael Bay confirmed that his next Transformers movie could begin production as soon as May. When pressed for details about the sure to be box-office smash, Michael wouldn't say if Shia LaBeouf would be getting more screen time or if Megan Fox would be getting less (much, much less considering her mouth!), but [...]

I Can’t Wait To See These Upcoming Pixar Movies, Especially Because They’re Not Dreamworks MoviesIn my infinite capacity for prejudice, I often find myself reading things like this list of upcoming Pixar movies though 2013 and immediately saying to myself, "every single one of these movies is going to be awesome," whereas if it were a list of upcoming Dreamworks animated movies and all of the descriptions were exactly the same, I'd be ripping on how inevtiably bad all the movies are gonna be. Knowing that I'm not the only one who harbors this deep-seeded Pixar snobbery, I've gone through and listed the upcoming Pixar movies, my reactions to them, and what my reactions to them would have been if they were Dreamworks movies. Disney's 2011 schedule will include Pixar's "Newt" (summer), the directorial debut of Gary Rydstrom -- a seven-time Oscar winner for sound and director of Pixar's short "Lifted." "Newt" revolves around the last remaining male and female blue-footed newts on the planet, who are forced together by science to save the species. PIXAR: Sounds awesome, such a perfectly goofy plot, and I can't wait to see the animation on the newts. I've never heard of Gary Rydstrom, either, but I'll bet he's a genius. DREAMWORKS: I'm already dreading the scene when "Let's Get It On" starts playing and the two newts exchange knowing, "hey let's make all the adults in the crowd laugh" sex glances. Actually, that'll probably be the opening credits then the song will continue through the whole movie, not even stopping when the Smash Mouth songs kick in. And who the f*ck is Gary Rydstrom? Pixar's "The Bear and the Bow" -- featuring the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson -- is slated for Christmas 2011. Brenda Chapman will direct the story of the impetuous Merida, who though a daughter of royalty, would prefer to make her mark as a great archer. PIXAR: Nice to see Reese Witherspoon doing something a little different, and Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson are always great. I'll be interested to see Pixar's take on the whole responsibility vs. dre

Racism at Sundance? Award-Winning Film Said 'Too Black' to Find an Audience [Mountains Of Trouble]A dirty little secret of the Sundance Film Festival is out over at indieWIRE, where editor Eugene Hernandez relays an anecdote that this year's award-winning (but undistributed) documentary Trouble the Water — about the odyssey of African-American survivors of Hurricane Katrina — might be off buyers' radar because its "too black": "Why aren't more white people in the film?," an exec apparently asked back in Park City. I've heard similar versions of this story from a few different people connected to the movie. But, those involved with the film have hesitated to say much more about the film's distribution prospects. After Sunday's New Directors/New Films screening [in New York], filmmakers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal told me that they are hoping for a late summer release of their film, while another insider specified that an August opening is to be expected. This is the second time in as many years that a Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner has experienced marketplace resistance for issues reportedly related to ethnicity; last year's acclaimed Dramatic champ Padre Nuestro found itself on the outside looking in when its tale of immigrant intrigue was in part designated "too Mexican" for art-house audiences in urban centers. (IFC will release the film — retitled Sangre de mi Sangre — next month.) Its cast of Mexican A-listers, as well as their marquee value among Latino audiences, meant little to domestic buyers. Nuestro's foreign-language status probably didn't help, but it has something in common with Trouble the Water: With rare exceptions like Tyler Perry-backers Lionsgate or Picturehouse's Bob Berney, a word-of-mouth genius who knew exactly where to target the crossover smash My Big Fat Greek Wedding, supposedly progressive indie distributors have no clue how to market to ethnic viewers. Sources close to Water tell me that a primary sticking point for buyers is the producers' grassroots marketing plan, which, like Wedding's, could take months to b

Will Juno be our film of the year? When we saw American indie flick Juno back in October, we always knew the teen-pregnancy comedy had the potential to break out of its niche to a wider audience. But we never guessed that in January the film would end up topping the US box-office. Having released on a handful of screens at the beginning of December, the film has gradually expanded, rising to number two in the charts this weekend (behind the National Treasure sequel). And on Monday and Tuesday, scorching word-of-mouth buzz saw Juno take more cash than any other release, and now looks set to crest $100million in takings. (Double Oscar-winning indie smash Little Miss Sunshine took $60million.) The film's star Ellen Page was named a nominee for the Orange Rising Star Award on Tuesday – the only award given at the BAFTAs voted for by the public. Juno also stars Superbad's Michael Cera and opens in the UK on 8 February. Trust us, it's bloody brilliant.
