- This is the album that got me hooked on Squeeze.
I feel in love with Hourglass when it hit the airwaves, but little did I know what was in store when I bought the cassette back in 1988. This is Squeeze with a classy, suave twist to them. My faves are Hourglass of course, Footprints, Cigarette of a Single Man (very Simply Reddish), and In Today's Room. Will love this album always. Will love Squeeze always.

- One of their finest
What? No one wants to tell anyone about Babylon.... It is one of the most consistent albums Squeeze ever put out. It is 80's pop, Squeeze style. One of those pieces of music I put on and sing with from beginning to end. Difford and Tilbrook entertain and delight. It isn't Argy Bargy but if you like Squeeze then this one is a must.
- tightly squeezed
Saw SQUEEZE on this tour in 1988-- without a doubt they were the tightest band I've ever seen live before or since. Probably thanks in part to all the great material on this album. Not EAST SIDE STORY, as everyone points out, but a topper all the way. Got a lot of airplay during it's initial release, but after that it seemed to drop off the radar. Too bad. Some great pop tunes and excellent musicianship. Any young pop musicians out there looking to improve their song writing skills would do well to study this album.
- Great cleaver lyrics with prime pop tunes
This is a little more evenly good than much of the Squeeze catalog. It showcases the witty lyrics and top notch pop tune crafting that characterized Squeeze's work - with fewer forays into other musical genres and none of the unevenness of some of the other works.
