Status Quo

Disco de Status Quo: “Dog Of Two Head (Re-Issue)”

Disco de Status Quo: “Dog Of Two Head (Re-Issue)”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Includes liner notes by Dave Oxley.
Audio Remasterer: Sean.
By their fifth album in 1971, British heavy rock outfit Status Quo had honed their sound to a simple but powerful formula of thundering riffs, compelling blues-rock melodies, and the occasional touch of pastoral wistfulness, evidenced in the recurring acoustic picker "Nanana" that appears three times almost as a palate-cleanser between the heavier numbers. Although they boasted neither a Page nor a Plant, the band could rock on their respective instruments, and the complex "Someone's Learning" indicates a facility for proto-metal songcraft.

- Die Hard fans will love this

Whilst DOTH may not represent Quo as they would later evolve in to, just a year later. DOTH does give a great indication of where they were about to go. Gone is the pretence of psychedelia, the long hair is there, the music would soon catch up.

It is an absolute travesty that Quo never made it in North America, Capitol really screwed up. However, in 1971 Quo were starting to make a noise and this CD is a great place to show were they came from.

- another great blues rocker

Quo was still coming up with some great songs here; they had left behind the psych pop far behind at this point. They laid down some really great rock songs on this one. 'railroad' is probably the best song on this one but there's many good rockers and some instrumentals too. There's plenty of bonus tracks and if you like great rockin songs done clearly and with purpose then this one is for you. They have plenty of bonus tracks on here too.

- Dog Of Two Head-Status Quo

I could go on and on about the legendary Status Quo-music style-influence-favourite songs etc. But instead I just want to say: Heard an 'oldie' the other day whilst driving-turned radio up-played pretend drums on steering wheel and sang along! Went immeadiately to amazon feeling good in search of more!
