- It really is the best of Steely Dan
Steely Dan is a legendary band. Led by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, they made some of the finest rock in the 1970s. In 2007, they finally got a 20th Century Masters CD. Read on for the positives and negatives.
Positives
-It has most of the major hits! 'Do It Again,' 'Reelin' In The Years,' 'Josie,' and 'My Old School' are all here.
-The sound quality is great!
-ALBUM TRACKS ARE HERE TOO! 'Any World (That I'm Welcome To),' 'Deacon Blues,' 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number,' and 'Only A Fool Would Say That' are all featured.
Negatives
-It would be nice to see 'Peg' and 'FM (No Static At All)' on here.
This record isn't skimpy either, clocking in at 56 minutes. It's a nice enjoyable collection. Real Dan fans already have these songs from other sources. This is highly recommended for new Steely Dan fans. ENJOY!!!

- Hilariously unnecessary compilation.
I have to wonder how many people saw this CD on a rack in a big box store somewhere and truly thought "That cover makes me want to buy that." Fagen and Becker look like a couple of hitmen in a bad, underproduced 1972 action film. Of course the songs are great, and that's basically the only thing going for this compilation. The number of tracks and the song selection kind of indicate a bad grasp on the work of the Dan and thusly a bad attempt at creating a great overview with one album. There's really no reason for this album to exist, except for the great band photo on the cover.

- Who picked these songs?......
This has to be the worst SD best of I've ever seen. Don't know who made the selections on this CD, but any of the other ones out there are much better. Save your money here.
