Report: Limited Edition Beatles iPod Coming to Bloomingdales Though the Beatles’ music remains unavailable on iTunes, Bloomingdales may play host to the first official meeting of the Fab Four and Steve Jobs’ device. The department store has acquired the rights to Beatles images from Apple Records and will produce a series of T-shirts, jackets and accessories that bear images from posters and album artwork. But the big news is that they will also produce a limited-edition Beatles iPod stocked with every song in the band’s catalog. Only 100 will be made available, so consider it the ultimate rock & roll fetish item when the line launches this holiday season. In other Beatles news, the iconic drum skin on the front cover of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band went to auction yesterday in London, fetching over $1 million. The item was the most popular of the Beatles memorabilia that sold at Christie’s Auction House, getting four times more than expected. A hand-penned lyric sheet of John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance” also sold well with a winning bid of over $800,000. A bunch of never-before-seen Beatles photos and Lennon’s sunglasses from the Mind Games sleeve were also auctioned off.

News Ticker: Guns N’ Roses, Warped Tour, Richie Sambora, Fall Out Boy While we all wait endlessly for Axl Rose to release the long-delayed Chinese Democracy, the makers of Dr. Pepper are being proactive. The soft drink announced they will provide a free can of the soda to everyone in the U.S. if the album drops this year. “It took a little patience for us to perfect Dr Pepper’s special mix of 23 ingredients, so we completely understand and empathize with Axl’s [quest] for the perfect album,” said a Dr. Pepper spokesperson. Paramore, Gym Class Heroes, Against Me!, Cobra Starship and others will headline this year’s Warped tour. The forty-six date tour will kick off in Los Angeles on June 20th. Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was arrested yesterday morning and charged with a DUI after allegedly driving drunk in Laguna Beach, California. Sambora previously spent two stints in rehab in 2007. The risks of playing concerts in Antarctica: After “bad weather” postponed Fall Out Boy’s trip to the South Pole, the band’s “runway” — a part of the Wilkins Ice Shelf — collapsed into the sea. The band remains in Chile until conditions improves.

Velvet Revolver on the Verge of Breaking Up? Is Velvet Revolver dissolving following their current European jaunt? Scott Weiland reportedly told a sold-out crowd in Glasgow, Scotland, that they were “watching something special… the last tour by Velvet Revolver.” According to fan reports, the rest of the band all looked at each other in confusion following Weiland’s statement. In a post today, drummer Matt Soren said “So last night was interesting. Had a little band turmoil on stage, as you probably all could tell. Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don’t get along. I guess there has been more turmoil lately. It has been frustrating, I am not going to lie.” Weiland spent time in a rehab center recently, forcing a postponement of the VR tour. Weiland also recently revealed plans to tour with his old band Stone Temple Pilots this summer. How the band breaking up effects guitarist’s Duff McKagan’s claim that VR will open for a potential Led Zeppelin reunion tour remains to be seen. Led Zeppelin Announce Reissues, Madonna Collabo Hits the Web, Police Say “Don’t Call It a Reunion” Led Zeppelin will be putting out three reissues starting with a two-disc best-of collection called Mothership on November 13. A week later, their 1976 concert movie The Song Remains the Same will hit stores as a DVD, as will a repackaged version of its soundtrack bolstered with unreleased material. “Candy Shop,” the alleged first cut of the Madonna/Justin Timberlake/Timbaland super-collaboration, has found its way online. The Spice Girls have expanded their upcoming reunion tour following more than 3 million requests for tickets. The Police have added a fourth night in Toronto to their much discussed tour, though guitarist Andy Summers says the band hasn’t reunited, but come together “more like a new band.” Online punks have started a very DIY rumor: that Fugazi will reunite in September.
