- Great debut with extras.

This CD deserves 5 stars on it's own merits even without the extra tracks. You've heard all the songs by now. Sex Type Thing. Plush. Wicked Garden. Maybe even Crackerman if you live someplace that has good radio stations. Those have become modern classics, no doubt. Yeah, this CD is a little old, but the tunes will go head-to-head with just about anything out there today.

In all likelyhood, you've heard just about all of the songs on this CD at one time or another. Maybe you're wondering if shelling out a the extra dough for 2 songs will be worth it. Let me break it down. The acoustic version of "plush" is very good. It's not like the other acoustic versions that I've heard, this sounds like they cut it in a studio. As such, it feels a bit cleaner than say, had it been recorded live. The other extra song is a lounge-ish version of "Sex Type Thing". This is a way different sound for STP. It's almost a preview of the second CD, "Purple". Is it good? Depends on your taste, I happen to like it.

If you like the original "Core", and you already own it, you may want to try to get the songs elsewhere. Yes they're both good, but for the price? I don't know.

In my case, I bought the CD way back in '93, and it has been used and sometimes abused ever since. My motivation for buying this was to replace my original copy, so the addition of these extra tracks really sealed the deal. For me it was worth spending more for the 2 songs.

I'm biased, I'm a huge STP fan, and I had some motivation to buy the CD again. If you don't own it already, buy this version, you'll be pleased. If you have it without the two songs, but it's an old copy, buy it, you'll know where the extra money went.

- FORCING AN IMPACT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS.

CORE is a rolling elbow to the face from start to finish.

STP's CORE leaped out as an album that truly had an impact on the musicians of today. The tracks "Sex Type Thing", "Wicked Garden", "Dead & Bloated" "Plush" and "Where the River Goes" make this cd a landmark in the musical time line.

And if that isn't enough, "Crackerman", "Piece of Pie", and "Sin" basically rampage the cd with an intense sound only STP could create. But mostly, who could ever skip over the single "Creep"? Almost everyone who grew up as a teen in the 90's has sung along with this memorable track.

STP, with Scott Weiland's insane lyrics and incredible voice, put their sound on the map right off the bat with "CORE". Not many bands will ever have such a successful first album.

Also, if you like the bonus acoustic versions of Sex Type Thing and Plush, from their MTV Unplugged performance, try to get a hold of the entire concert. It's amazing. With acoustic versions of songs from CORE and others, it's worth searching for.

If you want to hear a real rock cd, get CORE, you won't regret it...and watch for those flying elbows.

- The Beginning of it all

With Core being the first CD STP released, of course this album is awesome, it's the one that got Stone Temple Pilots fever going. I've been a fan of theirs for a long time and this still is my favorite album of theirs.

The two extra songs available on this import edition are well worth the extra money. One song is a great acoustic version of Plush and the other is an eerie Swing Type Version of Sex Type Thing.

Again, this CD is well worth the money, it's a great album through and through, with great songs such as "Plush", "Dead and Bloated", "Wicked Garden", and even "Creep".
