- Brutal, but boring
It seems like most of the low reviews are biased. Its hard to give an unbiased rating on a hardcore album if you don't like hardcore. I enjoyed this album very much. Very brutal, great vocals. Bludgeoned to Death is my favorite track right now. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there is not much variation on this cd. It does get a little dull listening to the album in one sitting. However if I put the ipod on random and Suicide Silence comes on, I like it.

- Nothing new, but nothing bad either....
There's one thing that has to be said first off about this album, IT'S NOTHING YOU HAVN'T HEARD BEFORE. It's an intense, brutal and agressive peace of work from start to finish, and there are a few decent tracks, but it lacks any originality, with the songs eventually all sounding the same. Quick, extreme blast beats galore, tonnes of breakdowns and guitar shreading will keep dedicated grindcore and death metal fans happy, but if your looking for a band that offer something different in the already jam-packed 'extreme metal' catergory, you won't find it here.
Best track- No pity for a Coward.

- Suicide listening material...
I have to agree with Benjamin on this ocassion, the quality of the instruments and vocals is very generic, nothing original here apart from some really pathetic lyrics...
I picked this disc up from my local music supplier as I was advised the album was a complete work of art!?!?! WTF...
I listened to the first three tracks, grabbed the leaflet and literally died laughing from their weak attempt at being extreme.
Anyway, I proceeded to skip rapidly as every track was full of the same concept, Bollocks.
I've been a fan of Death Metal for over 16 years, and have not stumbled upon worthless material like this for as long as I care to remember.

- Worst piece of crap ever. Terrible.
Oh my[...]god. Why would anyone ever listen to this. Sure it may be heavy and brutal, but who cares. It's so boring and so lame. Every song has the same boring chug chug "riffs", awful breakdowns, and dumb sounding hardcore-ish vocals. Whoever says this is death metal is [..] and obviously has never heard any real death metal. I read quite a few reviews on here saying these guys had talent but were unoriginal. Sorry I don't see the talent anywhere unless you mean they are talented at sucking balls. One song has a solo, but it's the very worst solo I've ever heard. I only bothered to check them out on Myspace because they are supporting Carcass on their Exhume to Consume II tour. Whoever booked them really s**t the bed on that one. No Carcass fans will like this and I think they will get booed off the stage. Terrible. Terrible.

- Heaviest of the Heavy
Suicide Silence's first studio album, The Cleansing, is one of the most hardcore pieces of metal you're likely to get your hands on for a while. The drums are tight and pummel the eardrums relentlessly, and the screams coupled with the low, gutteral growls are probably the best I've ever heard out of a heavy metal singer. The giutar work is nice as well, yet the riffs repeat far too much on some songs. It's a tough as nails listen which means that you won't find the album changing pace to satisfy the interests of the more acoustic listeners like so many other 'heavy' metal bands these days. The Cleansing isn't the most unique listen of the year, but it's probably the most consisitent. Don't hesitate to check it out!
