Summer Mosh Festival 2008:
Sworn Enemy + All Shall Perish + Warbringer + L'Estard
Unter dem Namen Mindset finden sich 1997 Shouter Sal LoCoco und die beiden Gitarristen in New York zusammen. Mit einem Basser und einem Drummer nehmen sie ihre erste Single auf, ehe sie ihren Namen 1999 in Sworn Enemy ändern. Nachdem sie sich mit ihren Liveshows einen hervorragenden Ruf erspielen, ist klar, dass eine CD her muss. Mit Mike Dijion nehmen sie ihre erste EP "Negative Outlook" auf. Der Hatebreed-Fronter beschliesst, die Jungs für sein Label unter Vertrag zu nehmen und auch zu managen. Die EP entwickelt sich zum Verkaufsschlager des Labels. Eine nicht enden wollende Zeit von Auftritten folgt, in deren Verlauf sie sich die Bühne mit Acts wie Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Unearth, Fear Factory, Slipknot, Chimaira oder auch Scars Of Tomorrow teilen. 2003 erschien das Album "As Real As It Gets". Gegen Ende des Jahres sind sie mit Madball und Since The Flood auf Tour. Im Januar 2006 erscheint "The Beginning Of The End". Im Mai machen sie auch direkt mit Caliban und Embrace The End weiter. Derweil ist auch in Europa das letzte Album erhältlich. Im Februar 2007 sind sie als Teil der Trendkiller-Tour mit Kataklysm, All Shall Perish und Blood Runs Black unterwegs. "Maniacal" erscheint Anfang November und kurze Zeit später sind sie in Europa im Rahmen der Persistance Tour mit Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Ignite und Ringworm unterwegs.
Die Band All Shall Perish, die 2002 in Oakland zusammen gefunden haben, ist eine von wenigen genialen (Thrash) Metal-Bands die noch aus der Bay Area Kalifornien stammen. Schreihals Craig Betit, die beiden Gitarristen (die bereits bei Antagony gezockt haben), Basser und Drummer haben alle schon einen umfangreichen Background und wissen was Sache ist und was sie wollen. Bereits Mitte August 2003 war das erste Album am Start "Hate.Malice.Revenge". In den folgenden Monaten sind sie mit Dying Fetus, As I Lay Dying, Six Feet Under, Diecast, Mortician und unzähligen anderen Bands immer wieder auf Tour. Mit ihrer Mischung aus Death und Thrash Metal beeindrucken sie Ende des Jahres auch Nuclear Blast Records, bei denen sie eine Europadeal unterschreiben. Danach sind sie direkt auf Tour mit Agnostic Front, Love Is Red und Martyr A.D. Im Frühjahr geht es ins Studio, um "The Price Of Existence" einzutüten. Das Album erscheint Anfang August 2006, darauf folgt eine Mammut-Tour mit Suicide Silence, Light This City und Nights Like These.
WARBRINGER nennen ihren Stil selbst „Old School Thrash Metal“ – Diese Bezeichnung hätte auch passender nicht gewählt werden können. Das Debüt-Album von WARBRINGER, "War Without End", fängt den Geist der amerikanischen Thrash-Bewegung der mittleren und späten Achtziger absolut perfekt ein: Musik von WARBRINGER klingt schlicht und ergreifend so, als hätten alle Beteiligten bereits mit der Muttermilch eine dreifache ﾜberdosis SLAYER, EXODUS und NUCLEAR ASSAULT aufgesaugt. So manche junge Band hat es schon versucht diesen alten Helden angemessen zu huldigen. Doch diese Knaben hier sind die ersten, die es tatsächlich schaffen, an die gröﾟten Momente der guten alten Zeiten anzuknüpfen. Das Wichtigste ist jedoch, dass WARBRINGER wirklich groﾟartige Songs schreiben können die tatsächlich in der Lage sind, es ohne weiteres mit dem Kult-Stoff der oben genannten Vorbildern aufzunehmen.
Somit kommt keiner, der sich auch nur ansatzweise für Thrash und Speed Metal alter Schule begeistern kann, an dieser überirdisch geilen Band vorbei.
Den Abend wird die Death-Walze L'estard eröffnen.

John Joseph (spoken word) (USA): After the release of his book “The Evolution of a Cro-Magnon” earlier this year, John Joseph (CRO-MAGS, BLOODCLOT) came over to Europe to do a few spoken word sessions about his book and other topics. Sadly, he didn’t find time to come to Belgium then, but now he’s making up for this by performing a spoken word session on Ieperfest!
MAINTAIN (USA): It’s becoming rather old, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less true: Boston, Massachusetts brings forth some pretty damn good hardcore bands! MAINTAIN is yet another band to come out of Boston that is bound to take Europe by storm! For fans of HAVE HEART, MELTDOWN and the likes!
RHYTHM TO THE MADNESS (B): Risen from the ashes of the legendary JUSTICE, RTTM is well on their way to become just as good and big! Now also featuring Cete RISE AND FALL on guitar! Touring with BLACKLISTED September 2008.
SKARHEAD (USA): Legendary groovy Queens, New York hardcore act lead by the even more legendary Lord Ezec, who is also performing as DANNY DIABLO on Ieperfest this year! Come and sing along to all the classic SKARHEAD hits!
