- La the light of love
OMG! This is a great album for someone who is just starting to listen to T.rex. From the upbeat "ride the white swan" to the dramitic "teenage dream" This cd will lift u up and just make you jump infront of your mirror and start dancing the "zip gun boogie" cuz baby, u were "born to boogie"!!
- Real gold
There's a lot of so-called Best Of T Rex compilations available that is anything but, mostly retreading obscure tracks from the late sixties. This one, titled SOLID GOLD: Best Of Marc Bolan and T Rex, is the real thing. It contains all of their biggest (Telegram Sam, Metal Guru, Solid Gold Easy Action, 20th Century Boy) and not so big hits (Truck On Tyke, Zip Gun Boogie, Laser Love, Children Of The Revolution) plus wonderful live versions of hits like Jeepster, Hot Love and Get It On, Bang A Gong. This last one was also their only Top 40 hit in the USA as far as I know. They were a glam/glitter band, but one with substance. Starting as a trippy hippy folk outfit in the late 60s, the band (basically just Marc Bolan) transformed itself into a snappy rock hit machine and scored massive hits with the soulful Hot Love and Get It On in 1971. Thereafter the hits came fast but they were fast, energetic 3-chord numbers with addictive hooks: Metal Guru, Jeepster etc. Truck On Tyke and Laser love were later hits and had a more melodic flow to their sound. This is a brilliant collection but much as the live versions of Hot Love and Get It On are good, I recommend that fans also get the studio versions of these amazing songs.

- Very Early Work
This collection includes the very best tracks from the very early period T Rex, before they made the breakthrough in about 1970 and when they were still caught in the hippy-mythology thing, long before their megahit Hot Love. It is fairly interesting British folk-rock from the late 1960s but I think the title is somewhat misleading. The only tracks that really stand out are Debora, Child star and Salamanda Palganda,. Skip this one and get one of the complation that includes Hot Love and Get It On (Bang A Gong).
