Metallica Deny Lawsuit Rumor, UGK Top Billboard Chart, Radiohead Push New LP to 2008 Contrary to reports they were returning to their lawsuit-happy, Napster-killing ways, Metallica are not suing the video games “Guitar Hero 3” and “Rock Band” for featuring their …And Justice For All song “One.” A spokesperson for the band tells us that the band has licensed the song to the game makers and look forward to it appearing in both titles. Houston rap duo UGK’s Underground Kingz debuted atop the Billboard charts, as their first album since 2001 sold 160,000 copies. On the strength of the single “Shawnty,” Plies’ Real Testament entered the chart at number two. On the indie front, Okkervil River made their Billboard 200 debut at number 62 with The Stage Names. Radiohead will not be putting out a new album this year; the band’s PR firm says signing to a new label and properly promoting the album will push the release date to 2008. Michael Jackson is being sued to the tune of $113,000 for not paying one of the law firms that helped him out when he battled child-molestation allegations. With the money they’re saving after canceling John From Cincinnati, HBO will release a soundtrack for their meandering comedy series Entourage. Cold War Kids, Gnarls Barkley and series star Saigon are among the artists on the tracklist, which mysteriously snubs the show’s theme song, Jane’s Addiction’s “Superhero.”

"Cease to Begin" by Band of HorsesThanks to bands with an affinity for the whiskey-soaked Southern rock of yore, the genre is rising again. But this isn't the bayou-loving sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd or The Allman Brothers Band. Today's Southern rock is more sedate and less likely to become a protest anthem on a college campus. Band of Horses' newest album, Cease to Begin, is a testament to the softer side of the swamp, with its bluesy ballads, lazy banjos and lyrics about swinging screen doors. The opener, "Is There a Ghost," has the same commercial potential as the radio-friendly track "The Funeral" off their 2006 debut, Everything All the Time. Starting off slow and spooky, "Ghost" crescendos into a guitar-shredding rock song that has more in common with today's indie scene than anything CCR ever wrote. But the album's 21st-century aesthetic seems to drop off after the opening number. "Ode to LRC" is an unabashed love letter to Neil Young's

Iron Maiden win Best British Live ActIron Maiden have scooped the gong for Best British Live Act at this year's Brit Awards. The band, who are currently on their Somewhere Back In Time world tour, accepted the award via a recorded video message. "We are delighted to receive the Brit Award for Best British Live Act, especially as this is a testament to our fans," says frontman Bruce Dickinson. "I've often said Iron Maiden's secret weapon is our fans and they've proved us right all along. Anyone who's been to one of our shows knows that they're the most passionate and devoted fans on the planet, making the atmosphere at our shows incredible. So this Award is for them as much as it is for us. It is they who voted in huge numbers. It’s a shame they can’t all get a Brit statue!" The legendary British metallers fended off competition from Coldplay, Elbow, Scouting for Girls and The Verve. In other news, the band's management have exclusively spoken to Kerrang! about their upcoming movie, Flight 666. The first screening of the documentary film, which follows the band on the first leg of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour in early 2008, will take place at the Cine Odeon Petrobras cinema in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday March 14. “As the band are away from the UK, we elected to have the world premiere in Rio during the tour so the band can all be there,” Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood tells K!. “The premiere will be in the early afternoon prior to our concert in Rio that evening.” Smallwood explains that Rio holds an important place in the hearts of the Brit metal legends: “Since the legendary first Rock In Rio Festival in 1985, Brazil has always been a very special place for us. During this Somewhere Back In Time tour we will have toured in Brazil more than ever before!” The movie will go on general, worldwide cinema release on Tuesday April 21, screening in over 30 countries across the planet. “April 21 will be a special World Maiden Day,” reveals Smallwood. “With the movie coming out and once agai
