- The Best Texas Album Yet!!
It remains beyond belief that Texas never found the following they so rightly deserved here in the U.S. When I discovered their first albim, SOUTHSIDE, I was immediately hooked and have not missed a release since.
They have proved able song writers turning out an impressive body of infectious rock/pop. With REDBOOK, the group is at its apex. Stand out tracks include "Getaway", "Can't Resist", "Just Hold On" and the stunningly gorgeous "Sleep." I belive this album and SOUTHSIDE are the perfect bookends to an incredible span of musical creativity and genius.

- Terrific Texas
The follow up to the disappointing 'Careful What You Wish For', sees Texas return to their winning formula. They always seem to evolve, while drawing upon previous strengths.
My personal favorite,"Getaway", sees a little bit of every previous Texas CD coming together perfectly. "Can't Resist" and "Get Down Tonight" are two very funky and contemporary tracks.
Things don't taper off. The spirited duet on "Sleep" featuring Paul Buchanan of the Blue Nile is great as is the plucky "Master Thief". "Cry", probably the track that sounds closest to anything off 'White On Blonde', is the stealth hit of the album. There's plenty of atmosphere in the slow tempo of "What About Us" and "Nevermind".
"Getaway" on video is a visual treat.
A must is the version that includes bonus video disc of 5 live acoustic tracks recorded at Abbey Road Studio. Sharleen's voice is amazingly crystal clear unplugged. "Nevermind" is the highlight in my opinion, the song just shines in its acoustic simplicity.
A great release, 4.5 stars but definitely 5 with the bonus acoustic video. I'm just hoping that their record label in the US will finally do a better job promoting them.

- One of the highlights of the past 12 months
I can't wait to see Texas in concert in May based on this album!
Altho mainly famed for performing the theme tune to Ellen in the US, I have always have been a fan of Sharleen and the boys. But after the disastrous effort of 2003's Careful What You Wish For, Texas have returned to the scene with amazing gusto and a set of fire-starting songs. Seriously hot, wikked choruses and amazing delivery. Getaway, the first single is one of the highlights of the album.....set to a pounding beat and a hypnotically simple piano refrain the song pounds along and builds into a thunderously glorious chorus. A song about a relationship breaking up, but a powerful statement at that.
The album boasts a range of hot producers in cluding Dallas Austin (of TLC and Madonna fame, amongst others) who also produced Texas' In Demand, and Xenomania who are consistent hit-makers in the UK. The group also keep plenty of the song-writing and producing credits. Spiteri's voice keeps it all consistent.
The album boasts 3 UK smashes to date (Can't Resist is sexy as hell and the gorgeous ballas Sleep is a recent Top 10 hit with an hilarious accompanying video). The top 2 songs on the album are the funky-as-hell Get Down Tonight and the totally atmospheric Nevermind.
I can't resist this album and encourage you to indulge......

- Awesome band
Just discovered Texas. I love their music, but I think Getaway is probably one of the most catchiest titles I've heard in a long time. It's awesome. I definitely dig their vibe and groove. It's too bad they never got more famous.
- Red book is a great album!!!!
With this work, Texas confirm their cleverness as in "The Hush"!!! Sharleen Spiteri has a sexy voice...WOW!!! My favourite songs are: "Getaway", "Sleep", "Get down tonight", "Never mind" and "Bad weather"!!!
