I was taken back by a song I heard on TV. When I went looking for this particular band and more specifically the song, I ran into what became no luck at all. No one had it. As it turned out, I had luck with Amazon on another hard to find purchase some time ago. Amazon came through then as it did this time.

Starts with a rip-roaring version of "Boom Boom" I personally prefer the Animals version, so we're off to a good start. All of these cuts are great! It is an import so I thought the sound might be lacking, but actually I couldn't be more wrong. The sound is fantastic. While some Animals comps tend to stick to a certain period, this album mixes all the big hits, and killer album tracks. "Baby let me take you home" is great. "House of the rising sun" is a classic. eerie and moody. "I'm Crying" was new to me, but has easily become one of my favorites...is he really sad or is it more tongue in cheek. "Don't let me be..." classic vocals, classic Animals sound. "Roadrunner" is another of my new favorites, sounds like the're having great fun! "We've gotta get out of this place" sounds deperate and desolate. "It's My Life" one of my all time Animals favorites. Classic Animals style and lyrically genius...

"Are you gonna cry when I'm squeezin them dry/ taken all I can get, no regrets, when I openly lie, and live on their money, believe me honey-that money..." Awesome!

The album ends with "I'm going to change the world" I had never heard it before, but it reminded me of being eighteen...I'm thirty now, oh well. I noticed that tracks 5,10,16, and 17 are maybe their biggest hits. They all run along a similar vein. They're dark and moody and they are the trademark Eric Burden sound. If you ask someone to randomly play an Animals song you will probably hear one of these four. Yet the rest of the album rocks, and since they are part of the british invasion, you'll hear bits of the Beatles, the Stones and songs that are genuinely Animals tracks. Some tracks have a pop-rock Kinks' feel to it. It's hard to put this album in to one genre, because it fits under so many. Listen to the music and enjoy!
