The Beach Boys includes: Mike Love, Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson. <p>There's no questioning the quality of the songs on this 12-song budget compilation--Brian Wilson is one of pop music's few true geniuses, and the early '60s singles collected here are among his first and greatest achievements--but one does have to wonder how some of these songs fit the overall theme. <p>"Help Me Rhonda" is unquestionably a perfect pop single, but what does it have to do with cars? Ditto the Boys' Spector homage, a playful gender-reversal cover of the Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me." For that matter, the omission of "Don't Worry Baby," one of Brian Wilson's finest songs, where the singer's doubt and uncertainty about an impending car race gives the world of drag racing an unusual gravity, is a lost opportunity. Other than those caveats, however, this is a fun and completely enjoyable collection.
