 Description
Recording information: 1966 - 1967.
<p>If PET SOUNDS is the Beach Boys' full-length studio masterpiece, then "Good Vibrations" is the distillation of everything the group had accomplished up to that point into three minutes and 30 seconds of pop majesty. A Billboard number one, the song was released in the fall of 1966, and this 40th Anniversary reissue is a testament to just how brilliant "Good Vibrations" is. With the group's trademark harmonies buoyed by a pulsing organ riff and what has to be the most recognizable Theremin hook in the history of pop music, "Good Vibrations" is pop music at its most cerebral and most enjoyable. The release also contains a bonus fly-on-the-wall studio rehearsal, three alternate versions--including a rare live take and the instrumental track--and the original b-side, "Let's Go Away For Awhile."
