Disco de The Beatles: “Baby It's You”

If you, a Beatles fan, missed the double-CD "Live At The BBC," then you missed an interesting look at the truly unique live Beatles performances on BBC radio (1962-65). I wouldn't have necessarily picked these 4 tracks for this single, though they are a good example of the type of music is highlighted on the set. The real fun part of BBC sessions is the studio chat inbetween songs and there are a few selections on the double CD set that have been unfortunately left out of this single.

There is an infamous Beatles bootleg available that is an eleven (I think) CD set, which is the most complete selection of BBC sessions available. However, since the penny-pinching BBC has taped over or destroyed many of the original tapes, much of the material comes from people who recorded the shows of off the radio back in the 60s. So the quality of many of the performances aren't that good to say the least.

The official "Live At The BBC" double-CD only uses the real BBC tapes that sound pretty good for what they are. And there's no audience noise on most of the tracks. This CD-single is an OK example of what the BBC sessions were like. If the chatter were left in, it'd capture the fun more, but if you can't get the 2-CD set, don't pass this up!

I enjoyed this EP very much as a completion to the Live at the BBC CDs. It is always wonderful to hear how well The Beatles sounded live. "I'll Follow the Sun" was exceptional, as was "Boys". The simplicity of hearing four guys playing and singing without a lot of techno behind them is refreshing. The excellence of what they produce with that simplicity is a joy to listen to. This is a must for all those still in the throes of Beatlemania.

In addition to their impressive studio albums, the Beatles recorded many "live" sessions for the BBC. Two discs worth of recordings were assembled for the

set, but die hard fans and collectors should note this set, which features 3 exclusive BBC recordings. They are very energetic and fun, and bit more stripped down and raw compared to the studio versions. A great treat!

After being a Beatle fan since 1964' I have decided the early stuff is the best and will always make you smile, these songs surely will make you happy!
