STILLWATERS is by far and away the BEST Bee Gees album. They just got better and better with each new release, and have proven they are capable of conquering any sound, and setting the standards for a few of their own.
Do to the unfortunate passing of Maurice, we will only be able to enjoy what has been, instead of looking forward to what is to come.
Having said that, I WILL continue to enjoy listening to the Bee Gees over and over again.
This group is "Awesome" If you haven't yet heard them, do.
Takes you back to the disco era which is coming back.
Still Waters is my favorite Bee Gees body of work. I cannot understand why this was not a mega hit. Still Water's represents them at their modern and updated best. I became interested again with the Bee Gees when Robin hit the scandal sheets with his new daughter, Snow. During this time, I heard Robin's "Another Lonely Night in New York" and loved it. I then purchased the compilation, "Tales of the Brother's Gibb" and loved the songs on the fourth cd. I decided to get more.
I ordered all of them, from ESP, Size Doesn't Matter, well, I think they are all good, but "Still Water's" is my favorite.
These songs are well thought out, upbeat, and right up there with today's music. Each and every song is a winner. I simply cannot choose one over the other. I love them all. Still Waters is a testimate of how very talented and gifted the Bee Gees are. After listening to this cd, I had an even greater appreciation of their many talents as singers, composers, arrangers and producers. They are an International force and this cd shows why.
Any one of these songs could have been a #1 hit.
1. Alone - I love the bag pipe sound and the harmonies. Quite enjoyable
2. I Surrender - One of my favorites. I hope someone will have the insight and good fortune to cover this song. It is very sexy. The beats are nice and contempory. I can not get enough of this one. I play it over and over again. This, in my opinion is one of their best.
3. I Could Not Love You More - very Bee Gees like and good. Good harmony as always and also good lead by Barry.
4. Still Waters Run Deep - Another good one. Harmony, message, good rhythm all good. Between the old and the new; this has a new feel.
5. My Lover's Prayer - lyrics lovely, good song overall. Barry's falsetto
6. With My Eyes Closed - Goodness personified! This is another song I am truly hooked on. I was speechless after I heard this one. Barry's lead and Robin and Maurice in the background, this is a mysterious song, very soulful. I really love this song. I love the lyrics as well. I can't say enough for this. I hear it every day. Another very sexy song!
7. Irresistable Force - Robin's lovely lead! Great Song!
8. Closer than Close - One of the Bee Gees best!~ Antoher sexy make you melt song! These old guys can "cook and groove!:)". This one has Maurice on lead! He is a good choice for this loveable groove! I agree with what someone else said, this could have been the lead song off of the cd. We will all miss Maurice. I still cannot believe that he is no longer with us.
9. I Will - Very clear harmonies and a lovely groove! Nice song, I LIKE IT
10. Obcessions - I don't know why some of the people who reviewed this CD were not impressed by this song. I love it. It reminds me of the Stylistsics or some of the soul singer's works of that era. I love the chorus
I like the sound, this is very innovative and shows their versitility.
10. Miracles Happen - Another goody! I love the sound effects in this song.
11. Smoke and Mirrors - Very spiritual song. I like it a lot.
In my opinion, all of these songs are wonderful. I do not know how they could top this. I may as well get another copy of this cd because I know I will wear it out.
The Bee Gees are far well and above all the rest. They are the Miracle. I do not think that the world will ever witness another group like them. I think, after hearing this, that they have been underrated. They did not get the props they should have received for this wonderful cd.
I am still waiting for this CD to be delivered. Hope to get it soon
Another must for you collection. I can't say I have a favorite song or Cd, but this is a special one.
