Lily: “I want my ex back”Lily Allen has taken her clothes off, cavorted with a panther – and revealed that she still hopes to get back with her ex Ed Simons (you know, him from the Chemical Brothers). Lily has talked about her break-up with Ed in the new issue of Q magazine, and has said that the pain of her miscarriage made their relationship too difficult. “We still speak two times a week,” she reveals. “He texts me all the time, making sure I'm alright. We never were not friends, it just became... difficult. Because there was so much pain associated with everything that happened, for me I just needed to get away. We still love each other. And we talk all the time. And maybe one day we'll get back together.” Lily’s also done a bit of amateur psycho-analysis on herself and says she thinks she knows why she’s been linked with a string of older men. “Part of me still wants attention from my dad,” she says. “I'm not gonna get it from him, so I look for it in someone else.” Hmm, we suppose that’s one explanation for her insane attention-seeking-ness – do you buy it?!

Lily reveals she spent time in “nuthouse”Sometimes it feels like Lily Allen lives her whole life in the public eye – but the singer has revealed that she secretly spent three weeks in a psychiatric clinic last year. Lily says she spent time in what she calls a “nuthouse” after suffering a miscarriage at the end of her relationship with Ed Simons from Chemical Brothers. “I stayed there for three weeks,” she reveals. “I was really depressed because of the miscarriage and I'd kind of lost the plot a bit. It was quite a nasty time. It was quite nice being in there. No one could get to me; no one knew I was there.” Lily also says she often wonders if things would have been different in her relationship if she hadn’t lost the baby. “Maybe if I had stayed pregnant and had the baby then things would have worked out between me and Ed,” she says. “I don't know. You could drive yourself insane thinking about it.” We’re quite surprised that Lily’s now been so candid about what was clearly a very difficult time in her life, but we're glad that things now seem to be looking up for her.

"We Are the Night" by The Chemical BrothersAlthough they've never stopped evolving as artists, The Chemical Brothers will always be associated with that brief moment in the late '90s when the entire record industry was convinced that electronica was about to overtake the American pop market. That never came to pass, but the duo nevertheless managed to score a few crossover hits, and have been coasting along on that initial wave of goodwill ever since. Their latest album, We Are the Night, recycles several samples that the team has used in the past—most obviously, they sample their own "Sunshine Underground" on the title track—but the record still manages to sound like the freshest thing they've produced thus far in the 21st century. The songs mainly stay within the Brothers' established psychedelic-electro style, but the arrangements are considerably less dense than their previous efforts, lending the material an ethereal late-night quality. The two are at their best when they balance their DJ instincts
