soundtrack of the imagination.Jason Swinscoe writes soundtracks to movies that exist only in his head. They're produced as Cinematic Orchestra albums, and the sound on them has been mostly a hybrid of jazz and electronica. The new disc, out June 5th, is called "Ma Fleur" and Swinscoe has taken the idea a step further: he's had a screenplay of sorts developed; its passage-of-time theme supplies the album with a hidden structure. Given the subject matter, its pace is more contemplative than previous efforts, but we find it a beautiful, moving piece of work. The vocals by Fontella Bass, Lou Rhodes, and Patrick Wilson are superb. You can listen to the whole thing for free here.
