- Very good CD
I purchased Crystal Method's Vegas CD several years ago. I was not accustomed to that type of music, but when I heard it playing in Borders book store I decided to investigate. I was told what CD it was and I purchased it. I really liked it a lot and use it a lot when I work out and driving. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that Vegas was the soundtrack for the movie "The Replacement Killers."
Well recently I thought I would check out more music from Crystal Method. I checked out the reviews on Amazon.com and purchased Drive. At first I didn't think it was as good as Vegas, but realized that the themes are very different. Vegas has more of a groove to it (not that it is a groove just more than Drive). Drive is great for motion. If you are exercising, driving, riding your bike, etc. than this CD will be great for you. There isn't one slow song on the whole CD and there are no breaks between tracks--just smooth transitions. The CD has grown on me and now I listen to it more than Vegas.
There isn't a lot of bottom in the songs (deep bass lines) and it isn't a groove (like R&B, funk, etc.). However, it's just great music to move by. It grows on you too even if you aren't used to listening to techno music like I was.
I recommend this to anyone who wants music to move by such as working out, riding your bike, or like the title says, drive.

- for the ones that don't know
this is a review from a true crystal method fan. This is realy a cd for nike but for fans it is a (RUN) throu just about all of thair albums combined in to one.If you own (ALL)of thair albums not just (vegas)you would see that nike picked up the tab for a greatest hit compulation / remix album. If your a real fan or knot and have the lust for electronic music, this will DRIVE you (GREAT ALBUME) 4****

- Typical Method
Drive was originally released as a workout soundtrack; this review concerns only the full-length CD version.
This CD is standard-issue Crystal Method. Not quite the classic that Vegas was, this is nonetheless a solid pickup for Method fans.

- I've heard better...
I was a bit disappointed in this album, but I think when I bought it, I didn't know it was a tie-in with Nike for a specific beats-per-minute pace designed specifically for runners. Maybe I ought to go take it for a run, but honestly, I was expecting something more along the lines of the amazingly excellent Vegas album. This was not nearly as good as Vegas. I'm kind of a novice in the electronic/techno music realm, so take that into consideration when reading this, but I've listened to enough over the years and have amassed enough electronic cd's, both albums by a single artist as well as compilations, to know what to expect from different groups who've made a reputation for having a certain type of sound. This wasn't quite what I was looking for from Crystal Method. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very inspiring, either. Just boring. Oh, and I won't even get started on how they butchered The Doors, that was disturbing. In future, I hope that Crystal Method leaves those "vs." songs off of their regular albums, because they are terrible. It's not a remix, it's not a cover, it's basically just a song being chopped up. Does anyone really enjoy that?
