- Wolf Trap Live: Best Entertainment Value For Your Money

After watching the Wolf Trap Live DVD for the 14th time, I still can't get enough of it! This concert includes 23 songs and is beautifully mastered in both sound and cinematography. It is without a doubt, the Doobie Brothers' finest performance ever. In one of the special feature interviews, Tom Johnston states, "we practice alot these days." Well, Mr. Johnston, it shows. Every song is played tightly and precisely yet mingled with an easiness and playfulness that can only come from professionals who have honed their craft to perfection. The Doobie Brothers were awesome in the 70's but in my opinion, have only recently reached the pinacle of music success with this DVD. Other 70's bands seem to have declined through the years but, not the Doobies. They have aged like fine wine. Take my advise and beat the winter blues: make this DVD part of your collection as soon as possible. You have no idea what you are missing out on until you experience it.

- Great Music -- Annoying Video

I grew up with the Doobies and always enjoyed listening to their music back on my portable AM transistor radio. So, when I received this DVD I was looking forward to firing it up in my Dolby Digital 7.1 system and rockin' out...

However due to the poor video production of this DVD, it is more annoying than entertaining...

What is the purpose of the director/producer of videos to constantly feel that they need to cut to another scene? Just when you are getting a chance to focus in on what a musician is doing -- WHAM-BAM! on to someone else, but wait QUICK let's go somewhere else; HOLD ON we can cram another 25 cutaways in the next 10 seconds... and on and on and on... Stop the ride, I want to get off!!!

For the grins of it during Blackwater; a 4 minute song; I counted that there were over 104 scene cuts/transitions -- that's one FLASH/BAM/POP less than every 2.5 seconds...

I think a concert DVD should convey the atmoshpere that you are sitting in the audience with the crowd -- not running around on the stage like a crazed roadie!

My recommendation is to save a few bucks and buy the CD of this great concert and sit back and listen to the great music without the disturbing video imagery that is presented.

- Doobie Brothers DVD rocks the Wolftrap!

WOW what a concert. They never sounded better and sure look like they are having a blast doing it. Hard rock sets, along with accoustic and blues set off a nice mix of songs. I highly recommend this DVD. A CD is also available for cruising in your ride.

- Simply Awesome!

This and The Eagles - Farewell I Tour are my absolute favorite concert DVDs. The Doobie Brothers are top notch. When they start out with two guitars hanging around their necks you can pretty much figure on some real guitar playin! The DTS 5.1 surround sound makes you feel like you are right in the audience. This is a really fun DVD to watch and listen to. The audience is appreciative but quiet enough that they don't distract from the show. This is one purchase you won't regret.

- too much horns

This is an excellent concert. The only issue that I have is with the mixing. On the hard rockin early 1970s songs, I want to hear the hard driving and loud rhythm guitars. In this mix, the guitars are too low and the horns are too loud. Need more guitar!! Nothing against the horn section, they do a fine job, but the sound mix is not appropriate - the guitars should dominate with the horns as backing.

Otherwise this a great show.
