Disco de The Doobie Brothers: “Rockin' Down the Highway: The Wildlife Concert”
Descripción (en inglés) :
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of ROCKIN' DOWN THE HIGHWAY will be donated to The Wildlife Conservation Society.

Doobie Brothers: John McFee (vocals, guitar, strings); Dale Ockerman (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons (vocals, guitar); Danny Hull (vocals, harmonica, saxophone, keyboards); Michael McDonald (vocals, keyboards); Keith Knudsen (vocals, drums); Skylark (bass); Mike Hossack (drums).

Additional personnel: Cornelius Bumpus (vocals, saxophone, keyboards); Guy Allison (keyboards); Carlos Guaico, Buck Johnson (background vocals).

Producers: The Doobie Brothers, Charlie Midnight.

Engineers: John Harris, Mitch Maketansky.

Recorded live at Sony Music Studios, New York, New York on May 5 & 6, 1996 and Starwood Amphitheater, Nashville, Tennessee on May 11, 1996.

This double CD live package, recorded at shows in support of the Wildlife Conservation Society (which receives a portion of the royalties), could easily function as a Doobie's Greatest Hits album. The performances are slick yet spirited enough to supplant the studio originals. Energized by the presence of all three of the group's original lead singers--Pat Simmons, Tom Johnston, and Michael McDonald--the group tears through their A-list material with blazing energy, and the audience eats up every note (check out the whoops that follow the harmonica solo in "Long Train Running"). This is a great intro to a critically underrated band.

- A stunning collection of great tunes
Having been a Doobie Brothers fan for 20 plus years, it wasn't until 1990 that I saw them perform live. I have seen them 3 times since. I was convinced their onstage live energy couldn't be captured on "vinal" or CD. I was wrong. This is a terrific double album. Crystal clear sound, great selection of classic hits spanning the last 25 years.Even non touring ex-Doobie-Michael McDonald appears in several tunes (I guess there are no ex Doobies). Highly recommended!!!added for a few tunes.
- Great!!!
This is a great DVD of a great band with a great sound. The quality is excellent! The song choice is excellent! All the former lead singers are incorporated in this DVD at one point or another, which is a great feature! Along with the current lineup of the time, the footage includes Michael McDonald doing three songs with them from another concert, which only increases the pleasure you will get from watching this DVD. Includes interviews as well. I purchased a regular DVD and it was great, I would imagine a blu-ray version would be spectacular!!!
- An Excellent Choice
This concert CD is the perfect greatest hits CD. For a concert CD the sound is superb! From early Doobie Brothers to the days with Michael McDonald. This is a great sampler.

- Outstanding sound, everthing on 2 disks
Excellent sound quality. After seeing the band this past summer we went looking for some authentic Doobie CD's, we only had to buy one cd set... Although Michael Mcdonald does not sing on many of the songs, the band sounds just as good - if you get the chance to see them live - go, and bring your 10 & 11 year old kids!! - they will have a new respect for their parents taste in music - not to mention that they will recognize the sound when you turn up the volume! Enjoy!

- a music fan from Illionois
Saw the Doobies Labor Day 1999 at a festival. Found this CD to be on par with that concert. This CD captures all the musical excitement that a festival setting can give. I recommend this CD to any Doobies fan or fan of music from the 70's.
