Bad Company Book Reunion TourPhoto: Michael Ochs Archive/Getty After a successful one-night-only reunion concert last year, the members of ’70s supergroup Bad Company will once again come together, this time for a run of summer 2009 shows. According to a press release, the band’s founding members — singer Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke — are all on board for the 10 shows that kick off June 17th in Hollywood, Florida and conclude July 4th in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Doobie Brothers will join Bad Company on the tour. In August 2008, the three remaining members of Bad Company (bassist Boz Burrell passed away in 2006) reunited for the first time in nearly a decade to perform at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. A DVD of that sold-out show, Bad Company – Hard Rock Live, will be released on August 8th. “It’s great to be back with Paul and Simon,” Ralphs said in a statement. “We made great music together and had the time of our lives doing it. I’m really looking forward to getting back out there this summer.” As of right now, the jaunt doesn’t take the band west of Michigan. Prior commitments may prevent this from becoming a full-scale reunion tour, however. As Rock Daily previously reported, Mick Ralphs is set to reunite with glam band Mott the Hoople in October, and Rodgers still has some touring obligations to Queen following the release of The Cosmos Rocks last year. Check the tour dates as they stand now below: Bad Company June 17 - Hollywood, FL @ Hard Rock Live June 19 - Atlanta, GA @ Chastain Park Amphitheatre June 20 - Charlotte, NC @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre June 23 - Raleigh, NC @ Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek June 24 - Virginia Beach, FL @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre June 27 - Bethel, NY @ Bethel Woods Center for the Arts June 28 - Wantagh, NY @ Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre July 1 - Independence Township, MI @ DTE Energy Music Theatre July 2 - Canandaigua, NY @ CMAC July 4 - Atlantic City, NJ @ Resorts Atlantic City Related Stories: •

Allman Brothers Kick Off Beacon Theatre Run With Levon Helm, Taj MahalPhoto: Splash News Last night the Allman Brothers Band kicked off a sold-out run of 15 shows at New York City’s Beacon Theatre by digging deep into their storied catalog and welcoming the first of what promises to be a steady stream of special guests (the leading rumors say Eric Clapton, Ron Wood and members of the Dead will make appearances). The Allmans opened their 176th show at the Beacon since 1989 with “Little Martha” and from there plowed through a string of sonic chestnuts, including “Midnight Rider,” “Statesboro Blues,” “Stormy Monday,” “Mountain Jam” and “Southbound.” The Allmans are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and the crowd at the Beacon, which recently underwent a $16 million renovation, was in a celebratory mood. The band was forced to cancel their 2008 run at the theater because founding member Gregg Allman was recovering from Hepatitis C. Taj Mahal played harmonica and sang with the Allman Brothers on “Leaving Trunk” and sang on “44 Blues” and “Statesboro Blues.” Levon Helm opened the second set by leading the Allmans through the Band’s “Ophelia, followed by “I Shall Be Released” and “The Weight.” Helm played his own drum kit and was joined by Levon Helm Band members Larry Campbell on guitar and vocals, Teresa Williams on vocals and Brian Mitchell on keyboards. He shared vocal duties with Williams and Warren Haynes on “I Shall Be Released while Allman and Mahal joined Helm on “The Weight,” with each taking a verse. If you got shut out on tickets, the band is offering a live Webcast of the entire run for $125; information is available at their official Website. After the Beacon run, the Allmans are scheduled to play May 16th in George, Washington, with the Dead and the Doobie Brothers; May 22 in Valley Center, California, with the Doobie Brothers; June 5-6th at the Wanee festival, Live Oak, Florida.; and May 31 at Mountain Jam, Hunter, New York. Set one: “Little Martha” “Don’t Want You No More”/”It’s Not My Cross To Bear” “I Walk On G

duffy train running - mashup!good morning! i was so excited when i discovered this week's mashup selection from DJ paul v. involved one of my favorite up & coming singers duffy (who i just posted about the other day) i'd love to see her make it big here in the states - her hit single mercy is starting to get some good buzz on and next month duffy's incredible debut album rockferry will be released in the US on may 13th - she's just getting started - please keep your eyes on her! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo! † FROM DJ PAUL V.This week we showcase some white folks who have lots of soul. The first were the boys from the 70's, The Doobie Brothers. 'Long Train Running' is a funky classic rock hit for sure, and on the other end of the spectrum is UK newcomer Duffy (who I adore!) She's already blowing up in England and just now seeing her buzz hit the states in a big way. Her 'Mercy' is a fabulous slice of retro boogaloo. This mashup was made by newcomer DJY Alias JY, who took the excellent Duffy remix by Dunproofin (which you should get too) and gets the locomotion chugging by mashing in the Doobies. Spark it up! † Listen to DJY Alias JY - Duffy Train Running [.mp3 9.8mb] † Enjoy! - DJ Paul V. The Smash Mix | Indie 103.1FM | Bootie LA | Dragstrip 66

'American Idol' -- Next Four Voted Off!Alexandréa Lushington was just one of the unlucky four to get voted off. Viewers sang "Hit the Road, Jack" to another four "American Idol" contestants on Thursday night's results show, whittling down the Top 20 hopefuls to 16! The four singers voted off were JASON YEAGER, ALEXANDRÉA LUSHINGTON, ALAINA WHITAKER and ROBBIE CARRICO. Jason got the boot first, admitting, "I had a feeling I was going to be on the bottom rung" based on the judges' criticisms of his performance of the DOOBIE BROTHERS' "Long Train Runnin'." "Your problem is you don't stand out in the crowd," SIMON COWELL told him.

When Michael McDonald Was “Doing The Dust” In The Doobie Brothers, Pissing His Pants Was NormalI've been an unironic fan of fellow beard-enthusiast Michael McDonald for some time now, but until I read this incredible profile of him in Time Out New York, I had no idea how much depth and dimension the soft rock singer was hiding beneath that velvety smooth singing voice of his. He's remarkably candid on topics ranging from Snoop Dogg & Warren G's cover of his song "Regulate", being parodied on Yacht Rock, and some of the darker times with The Doobie Brothers, when he was smoking the pot and doing the dust. Here's just an excerpt from his harrowing tale:I’m thinking that your tenure in the Doobie Brothers probably wasn’t drug-free. Not exactly, no. Not everybody had the same problems that I had, but there was a few of us who did the dust. Read the rest, after the jump! Did fans almost expect that kind of stuff from you? I don’t want it to sound like I’m bragging about smoking pot, but there was a time when that was a big part of our day. Smoking in the morning was normal. But a lot of things became normal to me. Seizures, pissing my pants, waking up in a hotel room with the New York City police at the foot of my bed became normal. It’s not like I’m proud of it.I always thought that "On My Own" was just a throaty duet with Patti Labelle, but perhaps it was actually a desperate cry for salvation from McDonald's "violent pant-pissing seizures and getting arrested" days with the Brothers Doob?
