Crossing Border

Crossing Border is het festival waar de combinatie literatuur, muziek, film en beeldende kunst centraal staat. Van 19 – 22 november 2008 heersen schrijvers, dichters, muzikanten, filmers en artiesten in het centrum van Den Haag.
Sinds de eerste editie in 1993 wordt gezocht naar unieke combinaties van gesproken woord met muziek, film en beeldende kunst. Naast grote namen uit de internationale literatuur- en muziekwereld wordt er veel aandacht gegeven aan (nu nog) onbekende namen. De nadruk wordt gelegd op het tonen van nieuwe ontwikkelingen binnen de literatuur en muziek en op de relatie met andere kunstdisciplines.
In november 2008 vindt de zestiende editie plaats van het festival dat zich de afgelopen jaren heeft ontwikkeld tot een van de belangrijkste internationale festivals op het gebied van literatuur en muziek in Europa. Het festival speelt zich tegelijkertijd op meerdere podia af, het publiek stelt zijn eigen programma samen. Ook de komende editie belooft weer een groot aantal optredens die ontroeren, raken, verleiden, verstillen, irriteren en betoveren.
Wegens succes geprolongeerd: Ook dit jaar zal Crossing Border haar intrek nemen in de Koninklijke Schouwburg en het Nationale Toneel Gebouw in Den Haag; Het Toneelkwartier. Het Toneelkwartier is van 19 t/m 22 november het centrale middelpunt van de 16e editie van het festival.

Crossing Border is the festival where literature, music, film and the visual arts combine to take central stage. 18 – 22 November 2008, writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers and artists will reign over The Hague’s cultural centre.
Since Crossing Border’s inception it has sought to find a unique combination of the spoken word with music, film and visual art. As well as courting the biggest names from the international worlds of literature and music, we pay a lot of attention to (as yet) undiscovered artists. One of Crossing Border’s hopes is to highlight new developments in literature and music and their interconnection with other arts.
November 2008 will bring the sixteenth edition of this festival that has evolved to become one of the foremost international, interdisciplinary literature and music festivals in Europe. With performances occurring simultaneously on several stages, Crossing Border allows the audience to programme their own personal festival. This year’s Crossing Border newly pledges to deliver an immense number of performances that will touch, move, beguile, entice, enthral, and scratch the itch of all of us.
