- Oft-Forgotten, But Rocks!!

"Its Time", the 3rd "Guess Who" album is the hardest rocking album of thier early years (1963-68), and the first to feature Burton Cummings as (at the time) second lead vocalist and keyboard player, and also the final recordings with original leader Chad Allan. This collection fits nicely in any garage-rock collection. From the opening bars of "All Right", this album shows the Guess Who as a hungry band, with new blood to show off (in Cummings) and adopting a harder R&B edge. The original material show the band's songwriting skills growing in leaps and bounds, but thier influences are still obvious. Chad Allan is featured on the lighter numbers but still manages to get down and dirty at times (listen to "One Day"). This album clearly shows the struggle between the pop influences of Allan & harder edged R&B from Cummings. "It's Time is a must have for every Guess Who fan. The liner notes from noted rock historian John Einarson are definitive and well done.

This CD is featured in its original mono mix and the remastering is probably as good as it is going to be, without going back and remixing it. (In a letter to the National Library of Canada, regarding the master tapes, I learned that both the original tape and an original vinyl pressing were transferred to digital for remastering, but I am unsure of what was used by Randy Bachman for the CD.) Some of the same tracks that appear on Sundazed's "Shakin' All Over" comp are featured in stereo from either original 1966 mixes or newly remixed tapes and they give a better representation of the sound of the recordings, which are really quite good!

All in all, "It's Time" is a watershed in the career of The Guess Who and this CD should be played often and LOUD. This is my personal favorite of the 3 original Quality Records albums.

- Transition faze change debut in history for The Guess Who!

Winnipeg's own and most successful rock group's transition change period came to a beginning for their new direction was happening and this CD disc album will leave their milestones as they went on to become a Canadian psychedelic rock'n roll band. This proves a very true fact in their careers from the auto-biography book called "American Woman The Story of The Guess Who" by author John Einarson. Their music is compared to other musicians like The Kinks or The Who right here. From songs to "All Right", "Seven Long Years" and "Guess I'll Find A Place" performed are some of the highlights included!
