Location: Lotto Arena 2006: de wereld maakt kennis met Inside In/Inside Out. The Kooks, een groepje uit Brighton, slaagt er in meer dan 2 miljoen exemplaren van het album te verkopen. Megahit Naïve en opvolgers She Moves In Her Own Way en You Don't Love Me zijn nummers die intussen in het collectieve geheugen zitten. Twee jaar later gaat het verhaal van The Kooks – de groepsnaam haalden ze trouwens van een song op het album Hunky Dory van David Bowie- ongestoord verder. Het nieuwe album Konk zet in alle opzichten de lijn van hun ijzersterke debuutplaat verder. Knappe popsongs in een overduidelijk Britpopjasje, het is een recept dat aanslaat. De nog steeds jeugdige groepsleden knipogen daarbij overduidelijk naar grootheden als The Beatles, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, The Jam en Blur. Dat The Kooks ook live hun mannetje staan is reeds bewezen bij vorige passages in ons land. Zalen als de Ancienne Belgique waren in een mum uitverkocht en hun voorbije optredens op Rock Werchter waren er telkens om in te lijsten: een eerste keer, in 2006, was de Marquee veel te klein. Een jaar later al veroveren ze de Main Stage. Vandaag zijn The Kooks voor de 3de keer op rij in Werchter om nieuweling Konk feestelijk voor te stellen. Belgische fans worden in de watten gelegd, want op woensdag 26 november komt de band ook naar de Lotto Arena in Antwerpen. Let the good times roll!

Location: Lorne Falls Festival Site Although it may have started out as a modest night of Aussie music on a local farm to welcome in the New Year, the Falls Festival has become one of Australia's largest outdoor festivals, spread over two locations and featuring both local and international bands. The first Falls Festival took place in 1993 - albeit under the moniker Rock Above the Falls - when a local Lorne surfer decided to open his annual New Year's Eve farm party to a few thousand others. Throw in some of Australia's hottest bands at the time and a festival was born. Throughout its 14-year history, The Falls Festival has kept on expanding. As band line-ups built, ticket demands sky-rocketed; so much so that promoters extended it into a two-night affair and in 2003 added a sibling Falls in Marion Bay, Tasmania.

The Falls Music & Arts Festival: The three day picnic begins on December 29th, 2008 along the beautiful coastlines of Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania as it celebrates its sweet 16th birthday in Vic and its 6th year running in Tas. Featuring around 60 performers, comedians, The Falls Arts Village, films, spectacular natural amphitheatres and FREE CAMPING.

Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed And The True Loves – please play nicely with Architecture In Helsinki! Oh, and there’re the twins…Birds Of Tokyo and Karnivool. Aren’t they cute? But they’re almost as hyperactive as A-Trak. The Mystery Jets and The Drones are some of the brightest in the bunch. Oh, and that’s Soko messing about with TZU, Liam Finn and Wolf & Cub – she’s visiting from France. And there you have it – the Southbound family. But that’s not all…there are plenty more of us.
