- Awesome in Australia: The Mars Volta Story
So maybe your friends told you about this band called "The Mars Volta." Maybe you listened to their CD and it blew your mind. And maybe your life just got a little bit more awesome. The Mars Volta Live Australian Import is almost as long as the actual CD, except it's only 5 tracks. If you're a fan of Deloused, your ears will bleed with a passion from hearing 9 minute+ versions of "roulette dares" and "drunkship of lanterns." Then you will be punched in the face by a 16:08 version of "cicatriz esp." Take this triumverate of tasty tunes and sandwich them with live versions of "televators" and you've got youself a CD that has more musical prowess than Carter has liver pills. Needless to say, if you're the type of person that listens to music, you must purchase this album. In fact, buy two copies. Take the first one, melt it down and mold it into a plastic calf for worshiping. The second copy should suffice for falling alseep to, or making love to (not the CD itself, but a loved one.) Or, you could do that thing that you do while listening to Pink Floyd albums... (that's right, i'm talking about driving. What else would I be talking about?)
- Mars Volta fans will not be disappointed.
Although a bit on the shorter side from what they may be used to, this is a great purchase for the Mars Volta fan. There are only 5 songs on it, and the title track "Televators" is the studio version taken from the 2003 album 'De-Loused In The Comatorium.' The other 4 songs are the same 4 featured on the also limited release Mars Volta 'Live' album (the one with the octupus on the cover). These four are: two XFM Sessions "(The Haunt of) Roulette Dares" and "Drunkship of Lanterns," and two tracks recorded at the Electric Ballroom in London, July 2003 "Cicatriz ESP" and "Televators."
The whole cd clocks in at just under 50 minutes, and minus the regular album version, there are still 40+ minutes of harder to come by material here. The sound quality is good, and the improvisional live show sounds amazing. If you liked "Scab Dates" you will also like this. I highly recommend this if you are a Mars Volta fan, it's a solid cd, and definately worth the money for the collector, or the devoted fan.

- The greatest band
The Mars Volta is not a very popular band, but they will in about a year. If u listen to this cd you are blessed with "real rock music" not like that sissy good charlotte stuff. The guitarast Omar is the next hendrix and The lead singer Cedric is the next Morrison.
