The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Album: “20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: T”

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Album: “20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: T”
Description :
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones: Dicky Barrett (vocals); Nate Albert, Lawrence Katz (guitar); Roman Flysher, Tim Burton, Kevin Lenear (saxophone); Tim Bridewell (trumpet); Dennis Brockenborough (trombone); Joe Gittleman (bass guitar); Joe Sirois, Josh Dalsimer (drums). <p>Key players in the 1990s ska revival, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones took the Specials' "Two-Tone" template and added elements of metal and hardcore, creating an energetic, party-ready vibe. Bold horn lines and formidable guitar riffs are essential to this Boston ensemble's sound, but the band's true calling card is the deep, gravelly voice of frontman Dicky Barrett. This 20TH CENTURY MASTERS collection surveys the group's Mercury Records heyday (1993-2000), a period that saw the Bosstones honing their pop sensibility. Nowhere is this more evident than on the surging "Someday I Suppose," and the band's finest and most successful single, the jubilant "The Impression That I Get." As a concise sampler of the Bosstones' peak years, this compilation hits every mark.

- buyer beware

this is a comp from their albums from mercury. has some good stuff, but alot of their best stuff is left off this, even the good stuff from the mercury albums. i even think that this is mercury's attempt to cash in from mmb's fans. the way these companies work, i doubt the band will see a penny. check out the live cd, don't know how to party, question the answers, devil's nite out, and more noise & other disturbances.

- Awsome!

Got into Adam Carolla's podcast and got hooked on the lead in music. Then going through the back episodes he talked to Dicky Barrett and it all came together.

- Great cd

This is an enjoyable cd that will be played over and over again. This will be great listening on longer road trips.

- BOSTON BREWIN'S

THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES THE MILLENNIUM COLLECTION: New England's premiere "party till it hurts yer sacrililac" ensemble THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES plied a heady mix of heatsinkin' metal/punk riffs, soul-splashed horn blasts, and hedonistic dance beats, easily the hardest hitting band of ska's so called "third wave" in the 90s. Head honcho DICKY BARRET's swaggering, suds 'n cigs-saturated growl and the band's trademark slinky, skanky grooves rode shotgun over rowdy drinkin' anthems and more sensitive subjects alike, forming an instantly identifiable sound. In the covers department, DETROIT ROCK CITY gets the patented "tear down these walls" treatment, rockin' it a helluva lot harder than even KISS imagined, while BOB MARLEY's SIMMER DOWN is a sublime, sanctifyin' tribute; MBB's originals are even better, namely wry sonic slabs such as THE RASCAL KING, SHE JUST HAPPENED, and their biggest hit, the exhuberant THE IMPRESSION THAT I GET. As "BEST OF" collections go, this one leaves out too many freewheelin' fan faves to be anything close to conclusive, but that's what individual albums like LET'S FACE IT and PAY ATTENTION are for.

RATING: FOUR PLAID JACKETS

- Truly the Best

This album had everything I wanted and more!! If you are a fan of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones this is a great album to purchase. Most of their 'popular' songs are on here and I can listen to the album without skipping a single song!! Very pleased with my purchase.
