John Darnielle is reissuing Mountain Goats cassettes from 1992 and 1993, as Exclaim! points out . Hound Chronicles and Hot Garden Stomp will be available as a compilation digitally or via CD through Shrimper on June 26.

Q&A with Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan
Local musicians have joined forces against Amendment One, the controversial North Carolina constitutional amendment that’s up for a vote on May 8. Tonight, Mac McCaughan, Superchunk frontman and co-founder of Merge Records, takes the stage with The Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle and Reigning Sound’s Greg Cartwright to raise money to help strike the amendment down.

Owen Pallett Works With Linkin Park
Photo by Elisabeth Vitale Master arranger and solo musician Owen Pallett , who's worked with everyone from Arcade Fire to the Mountain Goats to Hollywood short filmmakers , can add a new collaborator to his list: Linkin Park . According to an interview the band recently did with Spin , Pallett contributes strings to a track called "I'll Be Gone" from their upcoming album.
