- Pure Punk
Hey, this is a great CD, and it is pure punk rock. It is alot different from "Conspiracy of One" and "Americana", and even somewhat more punk than Ixnay and Smash. I dont' own Ignition, so I can't compare it to that. If you want some good old fashioned, non-commercial punk rock, this Cd is for you. You can tell the Offspring had not found their true style when they made this album, but Noodles' guitar is better than ever. For a debut album, the recording quality is magnificent. I'd say the best songs are definately "Beheaded" for it's humor and "Jennifer lost the War" for it's somewhat seriousness. I'd reccomend this to any TRUE punk rock fan.

- Best Cd by The Offspring
This CD is the best ever released by this band. This cd is in my top 20 best cds ever, which is an extremely hard task. This cd is more raw, fast, brutal, rebellious, etc. than all of their other cds.
Here are the song reviews.
Jennifer Lost The War - 15/10 Best song ever. Brilliant and true lyrics, great guitar, great everything. Brilliant solo after the first chorus. Catchiest song ever. Best song ever.
Elders - 9/10 Great Song. Great lyrics, great guitar, great drumming, great everything.
Out On Patrol - 9/10 A Shorter song, but still good. Starts with an acoustic intro till it comes out with a fantastic riff.
Crossroads - 10/10 Unbelievable song. Very creepy bass part at like 30 seconds. After that , this song is so great. Very catchy, great chorus.
Demons - 500/10 Best song ever released by any band. Starts with a cool drum solo then comes the bass, then the guitar. Has some great dark metalish lyrics. Very fast and great. This song makes me wanna have a mexican fiesta. I'd pay 50 bucks just for this song. Btw, Best lyrics ever.
Beheaded - 25/10 YES , BLOOD, GORE, YES, I LOVE THIS SONG. Bloody, Gory , Violent, Everything That I Love! Great riff, very creepy. I love the lyrics.
Tehran - 10/10 Desert Storm Song. Great Bass intro, great guitar work. Brilliant lyrics. One of the Offspring's better songs.
A Thousand Days - 9/10 Cool Song. Starts with like a James Bond ish intro for 10 seconds. Cool chorus.
Blackball - 10/10 Something about this song makes it so addicting. This song has some great lyrics, as well as that it is greatly put together. Very catchy.
I'll Be Waiting - 10/10 The opening reminds me of some 80s and 70s Rock songs I like. Basicly, its a great solo to start the song. But at like 20 seconds it kicks in to a fast punk song. I love the lyrics, the chorus, just a fascinating song.
Overall, This is the best cd ever released by The Offspring. Go ahead and get it if you liked the next 3 albums or other punk bands.
Grade = A++++++
btw. I listen to thrash and death metal and such, but I still love The Offspring.

- A Fantastic Begining
Well, I would like to say, this is an excellent CD, missing one star only because I know it is not the best they can do. As of here on in I will do a track by track analysis, those of you with lives may move on.
Jeniffer Lost the War A great song, good guitar great lyrics. One of the CD's highlights.
Elders Awesome lyrics, while the guitar is not as good as it can be, it just makes you pay more attention to the sheer power put in Dexter's pen.
Out on Patrol While, short, gives a harrowing image of the the All Amercan soldier (those who know the song will understand my pun)
Crossroads Perhaps the only romance song that has ever truly interested me...
Demons Good guitar and lyrics, but the fact that there is more talking than singing brings it down some.
Beheaded Guitar's and drummings are right on, but the lyrics are somewhat dissapointing as it is the only Offspring song depicting such graphic violence with no real meaning
Tehran An excellent tribute to war, and what our government has done to help it grow.
A Thousand Days I tend not to notice that song, as on a breakthrough album, this seems to have mediocre effort into it, dictionary deffintion of filler.
Blackball Wow. Offsprings first 6" single is a doozy, great song, lyrics, and perfects way of blending it all together.
I'll be Waiting My favorite song. Great Instrumentals, good singing and perfect lyrics depicting the pecimistic mood we all get in sometimes
Kill the President The lyrics are great (sporting my favorite line, "In a World without leaders, who'd start all our wars?") but as for everything else, more filler.

- THE BEST OFFSPRING CD....EVER
This is easily the BEST Offspring CD ever! If you like Smash then you will almost certainly like this, but if you prefer Americana, then you won't it like as much ( probably ). The Offspring's older music is WAY better than their newer stuff. I personally think that Blackball is the best song in the WORLD! The album has a much more " agressive " style to it, which makes it even better! Buy it NOW!

- The future is in the hands of The Offspring....
As many of us have seen, bands come and bands go in the hustle and bustle of popular music. One band that has remain steadfast in my mind is The Offspring. Aside from Ignition, I feel that the self-titled album is one of the most straight-forward and aggressive albums present in punk culture today. The first track, Session, explains many issues that are involved in relationships, and then it's followed by reality in "We Are One," "Kick Him When He's Down," and "Take It Like A Man." Once we get to track five, we adventure into the world of Holden Caulfield, from Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye," and we find out about the nature of society in "Dirty Magic," "Hypodermic," "Burn it Up," and "No Hero." Track ten is aggressive and packed with power as we explore the Los Angeles Police Department, and track twelve reveals to us the interior of a heart while saying, "If you've got the answer, then I dont want to know..." I feel that track eleven, which I saved for last is the greatest work of the album, with Holland explaining to us that sometimes it seems that nothing we do appears to be good enough, and that the anger can build if we do not let our feelings out. After being re-released, it appears as if this album gained a few more "takers." As for me, and all of you that hold true to The Offspring through it all (including Americana), I'm proud of you. This album is packed with amazing bass from Greg, killer drums from Ron, powerful riffs from Kevin, and a hit-home message from Bryan. The Offspring have taught us that reality is out there... and it is up to our generation to shape this world to fit its inhabitants.
