Readers’ Rock List: Super Bowl Halftime PerformersPhoto: Kravitz/FilmMagic Last week, following Bruce Springsteen’s Super Bowl halftime performance, Rock Daily asked our readers who should take the stage during halftime of the Big Game in 2010. After more than 400 responses, the readers agreed that it was about time the Who got their due. Considering the game will be broadcast on CBS, home of those CSI shows that feature the Who as theme music, the pick makes perfect sense. Other acts making the list include the possible (Van Halen) to the impossible (Led Zeppelin) to the awesomely impossible (Guns n’ Roses.) Check out the full readers’ list below: 1. The Who 2. Pearl Jam 3. Guns n’ Roses 4. Van Halen 5. Dave Matthews Band 6. Foo Fighters 7. Red Hot Chili Peppers 8. AC/DC 9. Neil Young 10. Led Zeppelin 11. Radiohead 12. R.E.M. 13. Eagles 14. The Killers 15. Single Minded: Death Cab Cover the Cure, Gaslight Anthem Rule “Letterman”Photo: Winter/WireImage Death Cab for Cutie, “Love Song” [Cure Cover] One sad face deserves another: Ben Gibbard provides further proof that everyone who grew up in the suburbs owned a copy of Disintegration. If only he and Death Cab could swoop in and save Robert Smith from himself. The Gaslight Anthem, “The ‘59 Sound” [Live on Letterman] We’ve had this longstanding rule that no live band sounds good on TV. And then we saw NJ’s Gaslight Anthem on Letterman and concluded that either a) our rule was wrong, b) they are, in fact, the band of our generation, or c) some combination thereof. Absolutely breathtaking. The Police, “Roxanne” [Discotech Remix] Heart-stopping and electrifying, Discotech paint the Police bright pink and take them for a night on the town. Charlie Ash, “I Wanna Sex You Up” [Color Me Badd Cover] The critical reappraisal of Color Me Badd begins right here, with this aggro cover of their most grammatically improbable hit. Various Artists, “The Covers Mixtape” [Covers] Fourteen artists tackling 14 songs that aren’t their own, all of them handling their source material with class and panache. Start with Steve Earle’s rollicking punk/country cover of “Breed” and work outwards from there.

Iggy & The Stooges’ Stolen Truck Found, But No Instruments OnboardCanadian police have recovered the truck that was carrying Iggy & the Stooges’ equipment that was stolen outside the band’s Montreal hotel. Unfortunately, all the instruments had already been removed from the vehicle and remain missing. The truck was found several blocks from the hotel. The Stooges are set to play a concert tonight in Toronto using borrowed equipment. Since the majority of the equipment had serial numbers, the possibility to resell the instruments will be difficult, police said. On losing his long-time Gibson bass, Mike Watt said “Her last gig was smoking. Igg was going off and the Montreal people were pumped up.” The band set up a website detailing their lost equipment here. [Photo: Hogan/Getty]
