Nothing Better - The Postal Service
Ok, this one took some thinking about because it's originally sung by a man and a woman (Ben Gibbard & Jenny Lewis). If you don't care about meaning and lyrics and my take on this song STOP READING NOW, I won't be offended! I altered the lyrics so it is all coming from the man, and split it into three sections. The first is as it is in the original - in the moment, then (on Lewis's first lines) it goes to the past tense - the guy telling the story, and finally it goes back to talking to the woman but it's still after some time. I could go on but I'll spare you! If anyone cares let me know and I'll write you an essay! Here's the lyrics as I sung them: Will someone please call a surgeon Who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart That you're deserting for better company? I can't accept that it's over. I will block the door like a goalie tending the net, in the third quarter of a tied-game rivalry So just say how to make it right And i swear i'll do my best to comply Tell me am i right to think that there could be nothing better Than making you my bride and slowly growing old together She felt she must interject here "you're getting carried away feeling sorry for yourself with these revisions and gaps in history." So she helped me remember. There were charts and graphs that could finally make it clear. She'd prepared a lecture on why I had to leave So I backed away and let her go But still my darling i love you so... Tell me am i right to think that there could be nothing better Than making you my bride and slowly growing old together Don't you feed me lines about some idealistic future Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures I admit that i have made mistakes and i swear I'll never wrong you again You've got a lure i can't deny, But I had my chance to say goodbye Say goodbye Go here to see an awesome video made for the original version of this song by a YouTuber called 'Apehodet' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu55YrlVwGo and go here to see my original music www.myspace.com/musicfromblueskies Thanks!
