The UAA Concert Board is proud to present The Roots on Friday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Egan Center. Grammy award-winning hip-hop trailblazers The Roots released Rising Down on April 29 via Def Jam Recordings. Tickets go on sale at ticketmaster.com on Wednesday, October 1. Tickets are $35 for the general public and $25 for UAA students (with valid UAA ID). Tickets are available online at www.ticketmaster.com, UAA student tickets are only available at the UAA Student Union Information Desk.

The Roots, legendarny, wielokrotnie nagradzany, jeden z najbardziej znanych zespołów hip-hop i soul. Grupa w swojej twórczości silnie nawiązuje do jazzu, funku i rocka. Ma na swoim koncie współpracę z Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Mos Defem, Rahzelem.

Zespół powstał w Filadelfii. Mają na swoim koncie 9 albumów. Ich ostatnie płyty w dużej mierze opowiadają o sytuacji politycznej w USA. Wszyscy członkowie The Roots należą do również do organizacji PETA walczącej o prawa zwierząt i promującej wegetariański styl życia. Sukces na rynku muzycznym przyniosły im takie utwory jak The Seed czy You Got Me w duecie z Erykah Badu i Eve, który został uhonorowany nagrodą Grammy w 2000 roku. Zespół był jeszcze 5-krotnie nominowany do Grammy, otrzymał też wiele innych nagród i wyróżnień. Największą sławę przyniosły im jednak, niezwykłe, żywiołowe koncerty. Każdy ich występ to podróż po fascynującym świecie muzyki żywych instrumentów. The Roots udowadnia, że hip hop to nie tylko gramofony i beatbox. Na koncertach nie tylko grają własny repertuar, ale robią jam session, i wykonują zaskakujące covery z repertuaru gwiazd rock i popu i r’n’b jak U2, Led Zeppelin, The Police czy Britney Spears. Te wersje nie są nigdzie publikowane i można jedynie je usłyszeć na niezwykłych koncertach The Roots. Dlatego też od lat uważa się ich za najlepszy koncertowy zespół hip-hopowy świata!
Występ The Roots w Warszawie, będzie ich pierwszym solowym koncertem w Polsce!
