The Temptations

Disco de The Temptations: “The Temptin' Temptations [Remaster]”

Disco de The Temptations: “The Temptin' Temptations [Remaster]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Producers: Smokey Robinson, Norman Whitfield, William "Mickey" Stevenson, Ivory Joe Hunter.
Originally released on Gordy (914).
Digitally remastered using 24-bit technology by Suha Gur (Polygram Studios).
In 1965 the Temptations were gaining serious momentum as one of Motown's most popular acts. Thanks partly to the assistance of Smokey Robinson, who contributed six songs, TEMPTIN' TEMPTATIONS kept that momentum rolling. In many ways, in fact, TEMPTIN' TEMPTATIONS, the group's third album for Motown, is a showcase for Robinson. He wrote and produced some bright, melodically spot-on tunes-- the elegantly sad "Since I Lost My Baby," the charming "My Baby," and the infectious "You've Got to Earn It" (with its ever-escalating key changes).
Most of the album's other cuts were written by Edward Holland, Jr. and Norman Whitfield. (The production is by Whitfield, a man whose studio smarts would prove crucial to the Temps' late-'60s and early-'70s success.) Notable among these are the swinging "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue), and the coolly grooving "I Gotta Know Now." The performances by the group--still in their original line-up here--are dominated by the fantastic tenor voices of Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffins, with typically excellent harmonies from the others.

- My all time favorite Temptations LP/CD!!

I was so glad Motown reissued this in CD format because it is an absolute CLASSIC. I dare anybody to put this on and not want to sing or dance along with it! This offering personifies the Temptin' Temptations, the CLASSIC FIVE at their very best. With classic tunes as "Since I Lost My Baby", "Everybody Needs Love", "My Baby", "You've Got To Earn It", "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)", "Born to Love You" and "Don't Look Back" and the lesser known, but powerhouse lead of Paul Williams (not David Ruffin, as so many people mistake for) on "Just Another Lonely Night", it will be hard to find a tune that you DON'T like on this CD. Even the songs that were referred to as "fillers" are classic tunes today. It presents the Tempts at their apex, and the reason why they are called "legends". What other group, past or present, can seriously boast having not one, but FOUR outstanding lead vocalists in their heyday?? Not very many. TEMPTIN' TEMPTATIONS is a CD that you can't afford NOT to own.

- Great Temptations

Temptin' Temptations is the third album from the band and while it is more or less a collection of singles, it still delivers big time. "Since I Lost My Baby" shows off the band's amazing vocal interplay and "The Girl's Alright With Me" has Eddie Kendricks flexing his vocal muscles. "Don't Look Back" is a forgotten classic and while "My Baby" tries to recapture the feelings of "My Girl", it is still quite good. "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)" and "Born To Love You" are strong and "Just Another Lonely Night" has some amazing vocals.

- The Best of the Temptations

"Temptin...." is the greatest of all Temptations LPs in my opinion. With "Sing Smokey", "Temptin" showcases the Tempts BEFORE they became legendary. In fact, "Temptin" captures the group intact (David, Eddie, Otis Paul and Melvin) and even predates Norman Whitfield's ascent to chief song writer/producer. Eddie, David and Paul share lead vocals on the LP including Eddie's tantalizing "Born To Love You" (w David playing off Eddie's soaring falsetto) and, I believe, the original version of "Everybody Needs Love". With Paul handling "Just Another Lonely Night", 6 other(count 'em 6! ) tunes included that are considered among their classics, and a confidence that oozes, "Temptin...." is a MUST have for anyone serious about getting to the essence of the Tempts.

- This CD Is A Classic That All Fans Must Have

When I first listened to this CD it made me think of how much better music was back then. This is a true classic. I was more impressed with the less popular songs on this album. "Just another lonely night" and "Born to love you" are my personal favorites. I am very suprised those songs didn't make it big. If you are a Temptations fan and you do not have this CD, I would suggest that you purchase this timeless classic.

- My veiw of the "Temptin Temptations" CD

unfortunately this quality of soul music is not being produced anymore. I'm deeply thankful the recordings of this beautiful music are still around for enjoyment. Paul Williams and Eddie kendricks of the Temptations were acquaintances of mine.
