- I never saw Maybe Memories
so I don't know how this DVD compares to that ...
the DVD: tour fun, get to meet the band, and some fun backstage stuff. It's nice to see Bert and Quinn drinking beers, because I thought they were sober people, haha. There is also a complete live show on the DVD which is well done, the sound is mixed well for a live concert DVD and the used are SUPER HIGH energy, always fun to watch.
the CD: only 9 songs, I would have liked a few more. The live version of I'm a Fake its NUTS and Maybe Memories Quinn starts laying the riff to the Refused's New Noise and they rip into that for a verse which is also a great highlight.
overall i liked the entire package, I like to watch/listen to these guys to get amped up for the evening and this does just that.
- I love it
I love the Used and I would recommend it to anyone who likes alternative music and people who like amazing artists.
- DVD REVIEW
Bought it for the dvd and man what a surprise !! The Used are a powerful band that mix equal parts emocore, screamo and punk rock. They are very melodic and very heavy at the same time. The concert is filmed with only 7 cameras but the edition is fantastic. The sound could have been perfect but for the fact that the guitar is not well panned across the stereo soundscape; it sounds twice as loud on the left channel, enough for me to switch to mono. so I guess that is the reason this is a bonus instead of a DVD only release. Bottom end is pummeling; everything else is perfectly mixed as well and the energy is OTT. Sound is LPCM, no 5.1 option (I prefer it that way).
The gig lasts for a nice 67' and you can tell the guys leave their skin onstage and are very down to earth people. The singer is out of this world. He can go to the softest intonation to a roaring throat-shredding guttural scream in a split second.
Extras are 5 videoclips but the title containg them has bits of making off of them that cannot be skipped; very annoying. The rest of the extras is just backstage antics but the documentary is quite interesting; a rare ocurrence on concert DVDs.
Despite the flaws, this one is a keeper.
- Great!
Everything that was negative about the Maybe Memories DVD is not the case at all with Berth. The documentary is great and the concert is full length, lasting over an hour, and is just awesome. Really though, the highlight of the entire thing is the 30 min Q&A with the band. It's nothing but pure silliness, which makes for an very entertaining watch. I didn't much care for the live songs that were on the actual CD of Maybe Memories, but once again, the Berth selection is awesome. Great Great Great!
- AWSOME
It's a great gift for the fans. The documentary is very good, and the live performance is awesome. The songs for their second album sound so much better than the album. Great!
